I was their medic for their last tour rehearsals and one of the medics for the tour. Not only great and dedicated ladies but Mel C truly phenomenal- the best vocally and the most professional, I was pleasantly surprised! Also could see the love between them all. OMG YES!!!! Spice Girls! Viva from 1998 is almost exactly as the studio. There is no question that they knew what to do on stage. The blending is beautiful. Viva is not just a fan favourite. It was emotional also because this was the end of the tour and the future of SG was unknown. Please do more SG for the sheer fact that your subs need to be exposed to more. You do not have to watch the music video. Yes it was completely live. All their tour shows were.

best pop girl group ever they had so many classic pop songs. They were masters of the pop choruses & their harmonies were so gorgeous always. They were a phenomenon in the late 90s. They created the whole girl power thing also. Never forget that!

I like so much Goin’Down and I adore Mel C voice, when she record her own music I can’t listen her songs, her music in that time was in other things, but now (2022) I start to listen her solo music and is fantastic, she is pretty good and I am so happy for the oportunity today to know and listen her wonderful music, Viva forever Spice Girls, Viva forever Melanie C !!

The Spice Girls were a part teenage years in a way that translated to my discotheque and bar hopping times as an adult. I wish this song became huge hit in the States. In the UK, this song became a massive hit going all the way to #1 on the UK Singles Chart. This song also became a major hit on Australia's ARIA Chart reaching #2 and #4 on Canada Top Singles (RPM) among other countries. "Viva Forever" is a song that makes me teary eyed. Melanie C's solo albums are awesome! The first Melanie C song I ever downloaded being her solo hit "Anymore."

Some story behind why this performance of this song was so emotional: 1.) this was their final single they released off their 2nd album Spice World in 1998, it was also the last single they released as a 5 piece band (the studio version includes Geri "ginger spice" - so the single released on radio includes her vocals; 2.) At the height of their success and during their European part of their Spice World tour that kicked off in '98, Geri decided to leave the band halfway, so the rest of the girls had to re-choreograph and re-assign Geri's vocals and harmonies as they continue their last leg of the European tour and continue on with the U.S. tour before they come home to Wembley in London (which is where this live performance was recorded you are seeing here); also 3.) as Melanie C. ('sporty) sings "Spice Girls Forever...." it's a sign of what will be the end of the Spice Girls as a 5 piece, they will be taking a break and in a way, it's a goodbye to Geri. Not only did they lose a band member, but they miss their friend. So in 2000 when the group released their 3rd and final album (their first album as a quartet), it was appropriately titled FOREVER. So as you can see, they went through a lot in 1998, that's why the two Melanie's (sporty and scary) kissed and hugged at the end of the song. Later that year, they released their Christmas single (their first without Geri) titled "Goodbye" which was written about her, talking about leaving and moving out and being strong.

Nice reaction. I was at Wembley in 1998, and the whole show was just phenomenal. It was at the end of their world tour, so their performance was at its peak. I will never forget this great memory, goosebumps from start to finish.

You know, it was a very emotional performance for the girls. It was the last show of their world tour in 1998, just four months earlier Geri had left the band, right as they were releasing this song as a single. Many years later, Geri admitted she watched them do Wembley Stadium from her home (as this show was transmitted live worldwide) and feeling so gutted, in her own words “wow they’re doing it without me!”.
