As a child, the whole family watched this clip on TV, there are 5 of us in the family, after 25 years everything has changed, my father lives separately already, my brother and sister are also separately with their families, I stayed with my mother and I always listen to this song and remember my warm childhood when we lived with the whole family under one house. I really miss those times, I want to return to this period at least for a few minutes and watch this clip again with my whole family. Now it is this song that I associate with my childhood in the circle of my family. Appreciate every second of your life and your loved ones. It is very difficult when separation takes its toll.

This song was a hit in 1998, I was a young 16 year old, a beautiful time in my life. 3rd year of secondary school, not a worry in the world, life unfolding, yet uncertain of my destination. Now 42 years old I can relate to this song and the memories it evokes. These memories recapture a time in my life where I was happy and content with my school friends, with none of the burdens associated with modern day technologies. Life passes us by so very fast, id love to revisit 1998 again and perhaps relive the freedom of youth one more time.

This song brings back my innocent childhood where I used to wait whole day on MTV for this song to appear. There was this favorite Grand Aunt of mine who loves this song. She was cool, kind, loving, and loved by everyone around her. Back in the early 2000s, this is the song she used to play this on her tape while she prepare delicious dumplings for everyone. Today she passed away, now I can't help but cry like a little boy listening to this song. I'm sorry if I make you sad but yeah hope after some years, if I'm alive, I'll come back often to check this comment and remember her again.

The meaning of this video: it's about losing someone. About enjoying life while you can. One day you have someone on your side... the next day it has just become a nostalgic memory. Fairies represent life: beautiful and cruel at the same time. Life dances with you, has fun with you but it will take that away from you one day. The magic cube is a metaphor about how complex life is. You can solve some things, others not. So live your life, enjoy the moments and your loved ones to the fullest. One day it ends. (Fun fact : At the end of the video, only four fairies come out of the machine. A hidden message that one of them was gone. (Geri left the band during the production of this video).

For those wondering why there are suddenly so many german comments: German TV music channel VIVA had it's last airing on Dec 31. 2018. Starting in 1993 it lasted 25 years and was often more beloved then MTV, especially since (unlike MTV) it still aired music during the late 2000's. So yeah this song with Viva in the title and the melancholy sound is kinda fitting.

в 1976 г.). ❤❤❤❤🎉😊

@@Carolinamehring The video story seems like has different plot to the lyric. I feel sadness in the video, of losing a best friend. One boy lost his best friend who was hypnotized and taken away by the fairies, but he will stay in remain keeping their friendship. I don't know. I feel like it's hard when I struggle to keep on the friendship alone, while my friend chases something else.

So different from other Spice songs, which makes it stand out. A sad, melancholic ballad about appreciating what you have and live for the moment cause it will be gone sooner than you think:( And what makes it better is that Mel B, Scary Spice, delivers the final lines like a monologue in a low voice giving us the chills, proving she can in fact sing. What a gem of a song!

I remember when I first saw this video and heard the song, I didn't really understand what was happening and was always tearing up, feeling sad. Guess what? Here I am, 26 years of age and I stumbled upon this video totally random, watched it and teared up again. Ain't even ashamed of admitting it, we all act all cool and stuff but inside we are all human and it's a basic human characteristic to be emotional. Also I finally understood the concept of the video and the meaning of song which made me even more sad... I lost a friend at a young age. It was hard at first but now I let it go because I know he'd want me to carry on and achieve the dreams we had when we were kids. Awesome song.

Music has the power to do anything and everything. It is a shame some people are not allowed to listen to music, i assume because it stimulates there mind, body and soul. When all else fails there is always a song or a melody that can lift you up, bring you down, shake you up and all around. Nothing stimulates the mind, heart, body and soul more than listening to music that we like....

This is my favorite Spice Girl song but it's so painful to listen to now. I was in the 8th grade when it was released and had just got news at my best friend's house that my uncle had been in a car accident and not expected to make it. My friend grabbed me & held me tight as I sobbed waiting for my parents to come get me. This song was playing as she held me up and rocked me. My uncle made it & is now 51 but with severe brain damage and has the mind of a child. Nothing was ever the same after that moment in time while Viva Forever played.

But this came up in my reccomended and I was honestly speechless, after years of looking I found it. Watching it brings back that one memory I never forgot for some reason.

Never that big a fan of Spice girls but this is by far my favourite one they ever did. Such a beautiful song. Yet so sad, it’s like the memories of a life that never was. Whether by fate or how different our lives would have been if we’d been born into something different. All the chances you don’t take or that never appeared, the idea that one change of circumstance and you could have a different life entirely and be with other people. It’s like a love song to the soul mates who never met or not even about love- they’re just dreams and experiences that never existed. The dreams that only exist in our imaginations. And a part of us will always be waiting for the lives we never had.

@@soneselenator3014 It is mate I know, Always what I felt when listening to it whilst walking across some fields next to a castle and hills near where I live in U.K. I thought of another good music video where the main character smiles and watches his family walking ahead of them but at the end of the video where they sing ‘I’ll be waiting’ the family disappear as the main character didn’t take that path in life

Watching this video again after all these years and it makes me feel really sad. One boy was left behind and was forever searching for his friend. As others have said in the comments, its like a memory of a life/love/friendship that never was. Beautiful song that has a deeper meaning now in 2022.

For me it’s like a memory of a life/love/friendship that actually was, but now is gone. A bestfriend who found someone else as adult and you are left behind and forgotten.

For me those stupid spice girls ate this poor kid. Also the message is, if you are ugly you are an easy target for girls who wants to eat you. He should have stay with his friend, but he wanted girls and he payed the ultimate prize.

I feel like it just means that friendships can sometimes not be sustained bc you go seperate ways. Like my best friend in elementary went to a different highschool and i haven't seen him since then.

I am 41. Even back then when I was going to raves and dance parties listening to the music of the undeground, you knew Spicegirls and the feeling they had was needed in music at the time. They were the ABBA of their time. And ABBA were bloody brilliant.
@fujio9 жыл бұрын
Bill Barbagiannis Interesting!! What makes you say that the spice girls were needed in music at that time? I'm 26 and grew up with them so it was a different point of view for me (as I was probably ~10/11 when they were in the their prime in the US)
@billba9 жыл бұрын
The music scene was brilliant but music generally speaking was very serious. The spicegirls allowed the scene not to take itself too serious. People learnt to enjoy music with another aesthetic that was there at that time. Its cool to be cool, but not too cool.
