I just ate my first batch of biltong yesterday!! OMG home made jerky is just the best! Literally anyone on any budget at all can make a bitong box. I also do jerky in my oven, but it's nice to have a batch going without using much fuel, just a little fan. I used to use that cutter daily. A coworker of mine lost part of her finger by not following the safety practices. She was slicing tomatoes without using the guard (like an idiot), and felt something warm and looked down and saw a LOT of blood. Good little run down of the equipment. trust me, you will not need to sharpen the blade for a while! This is an absolutely wonderful piece of equipment to have! Congratulations!🎉🥩🍖🍗🥓🥩🍖🍗🥓

I do believe that you are mistaken. The increments are in millimeters. The in between markings are 1/2 mm. For example: 2 then the 1/2 is 2 and 1/2 mm. The total depth is 12 mm.

❤️🥰❤️. That's not a bad price for such a high quality Commercial meat slicer. I have the Cuisinart one that I saw Anita on Ketogenic Woman using.

Looks just like the Beswood slicer I just got but maybe not as good accessories. Kind of wish I would have bought a used Hobart as I can see the aluminum corroding with time.

Not bragging just telling. I worked in a deli from age 15-18. My duty was to slice all the meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes , etc., for the day. I spent 1-2 hours each morning slicing. The machine was an old Hobart with nothing safety about it. I saw/ heard all the gory stories so a large respect I did have. Looking away while slicing was # 1 cause for injury. In my 4 years I never cut myself on the " Beast ". Learn how to use and stay focused ALL THE TIME and you'll be fine.

Glad I found your video! That marinade recipe was very similar to what I used. I will have to get some of the aminos instead of using the soy sauce. My recipe used liquid smoke, but I like the idea of using smoked salt. I will NOT be getting a slicer anytime soon. My knife worked pretty good on semi frozen London broil!

I bought one similar to that last year. It’s a Berkel Red line 250. I love it but it’s a chore to clean. We got a rolling cart for it because it’s super heavy. My husband made some jerky and some meat crisps and they were awesome! I’ll be making your recipe for sure.

Great video, Nili. I have basically the same slicer (not Vevor brand, but probably built in the same factory) and your description is spot-on. Regarding jerky thickness, I started out making it too thin as well; my conclusion is that I need to start with 1/4" slices.

Not all slicers handle the really thin slices well, or cheese well for that matter. Have you had time to try it with either of these applications?

The slicer we have is garbage. It is not nearly strong enough. This is fantastic. I’ll definitely be ordering one of these before the end of the year! Thanks for this video -Glad they sent you one!

I definitely have no use for a meat slicer but I do deal with slicing at work and yes, get yourself some slicing gloves. I almost cut a finger off making a loaf of garlic bread.I bought a set of slicing gloves for home use because you don’t know how many times I cut myself cutting potatoes and sweet potatoes (haven’t done that in years.) I have had some experience making jerky though, Costco sells meat that is sliced for making jerky. I buy it and season it and then dehydrate. Hubby loves it, so do I. I will try the sriracha kimchi as I love those flavors, but I do need a new bottle of the probiotic sriracha (don’t remember where I bought it the first time) It is excellent stuff.

My dad was a butcher when I was a girl (now 76).He had a Hobart, but I remember to this day the adminition to be so very careful around the slicer. We were never allowed to use it; he did not want us to distract him either.

I make beef jerky once a week. My first meal consists of beef jerky and beef bacon with butter on it. I have been eating this for a couple years. I just love it. I may just have to get that meat slicer.

You should put wax paper down to catch the slices to keep the machine cleaner.

The price is a lot less than I was expecting. Seems like a great value for those who would get the use out of it. I'd love to make my own jerky, but I'm too lazy

@@YeshuaKingMessiah I know the struggle, and it is a sad situation😅 We almost only buy meat (the cheapest kind) when it is priced down due to short expiration date, and STILL we can’t have meat for dinner every day. We have it maybe three or four times a week. We eat a lot of eggs, to say the least😆 Luckily that is cheap. 🐔🐓🥚🥚🥚🥚

Nope, terrible. I trust that a slicer slices, but the real test is breaking it down and cleaning. Need a video on that process; it's not glamorous, but you're likely to be spending more time and care cleaning it than slicing. By the way, great point that they included extra stones; that means they think it's going to last long enough to need them. Would be fun to see the sharpening process as well.
