Yeah mach numbers change with altitude. You can do like Mach 2.5 or something in level flight at 70k ASL but not at sea level

The good thing with the sweep wing is that you don't actually need to hook a wire to land it on the boat in Vtol, you can just put max flaps and land at like 120 knots.

The speed of sound is slower in less dense air. So as you're diving your true airspeed is increasing, but your mach number seems not to be because the air is getting thicker very quickly the lower you get. In most planes you can reach higher mach numbers at altitude, though it's not as fast or fun. Apologies if you knew that, lol.

To answer your question on the stall warning, most variable geometry wings will stall quicker with higher sweep angles. Due to the design, the center of lift/center of pressure is moved aft as the wings sweep making the design naturally a little more stable and a little less "spicy" in terms of maneuverability. It seemed that your airspeed is around 296 knots, at full sweep (around 68 degrees in the F-14) and you were pulling fairly hard, this would cause the angle of attack to sky rocket causing the stall warning to go off, this in turn created a lot of drag (via the aircraft itself and of course the elevons being *T H I C C* ) possibly making the speed lower than what it could have been if it were on auto, but then again I'm not entirely sure how it's modeled in-game. - Goofy ah private pilot with instrument rating on the internet.

Even on auto it likes to give you a stall warning at 200-300 knots. I'm not sure if i need to manual set the sweep more often, or if the auto-calculation is just that giga brained that it cares not for the stall warning at high speeds.

So, I speak with 100% authority with no flight experience whatsoever :P Yeah, you would be right. But there are 2 things: 1: The AoA is displayed on the HUD with the alpha. 2: I've noticed its a VTOL VR thing. Very sensitive to AoA onset. Even at relatively low AoA it'll still play the stall warnings. Don't know why, its probably the one thing that annoys me most in VTOLVR.
