@@thebestone5642 The Mayor and the City Council Controls the City Budget, not the LAPD. the LAPD falls under the City's control. The Mayor hires the Chief of Police in L.A. LAPD's checks come from the City Budget, the City Controls the Purse. Gang Intervention Programs are funded by the City not LAPD.

I don't know Big U or the details of his job. But i'll say that my older brother is a VERY known and respected G from our section. My nephew(his son) died at 18 claiming the set and changed my bro. He got an intervention job and is committed to making sure the youth find better opportunities. His job consists of squashing beefs when he can, being present at hotspots for intervention, and showing up to murder scenes to give the families access to resources and a knowing shoulder to cry on. He ain't no damn snitch. There is NOTHING wrong with this position. Period. And he still loves the hood and the homies. Enough to want them to be better.

You don't see Keways only wearing blue or Damus only wearing red or burgundy. Some younger Damu & Keway crews even have alliances over gangs from their same Red or Blue gang. The youth don't always listen to the G's, sometimes they do. Sometimes GRYD may help reduce situations or violence, most times it's the real ones in the streets still involved who make the decision to slow down the riding and sliding, not activist.
