He tried to help Peter being a better Spider-Man by making him kill, and he tried to help Harry heal the world by infecting everyone with the symbiote. When first playing the game, I thought it was just pure evil, but after replaying it, I realized how there's way more depth to the symbiote in this story.

When I saw those wings, I was MINDBLOWN. Insomniac really held nothing back making Venom terrifying. I know that some people were upset Eddie Brock wasn't gonna be Venom. But one of the thing that Venom always has is an obsession towards Peter and Spider-Man. In Eddie's case, it was due to hatred. In Harry's case, it was the friendship they had. Insomniac kept that obsession Venom has and really used it well. They really made the best Venom possible. Not just by design but also as a character.

What's really funny is that, even despite being Harry instead of Eddie Brock, this version of Venom is still more faithful than the Sony version with Tom Hardy. It's a different host, but the core idea behind the character stays intact and it's a really clever spin on it.

The Venom persona in the original comics wasn't even the symbiote but an amalgamation of personalities of Eddie Brock and symbiote, the symbiote itself didn't had a name, until much later.

@@diccchocolate416 nah i think its a two way street deal. the symbiote needs a host as IS in fact a symbiote rather than a parasite. it is motivated by what motivates its host. its why it only went about the take over the wrold plan when with harry. but with peter it went along with his hero duty shit... but in both ways it takes the plans to degrees that are borderline psychotic/simply lacking the human perspective. This does mean this version of venom could be tamed with the right host.

from the rest of the game, it seems like the symbiote echoes the desires of its current host. with peter venom wanted to 'protect the city' as it were, but seeminghl the creature seeks imple solutions, so it tried to kill kraven. with harry, it decided that reproducing and filling the world with its kind would be the best solution.

The symbiote just unfilters you and pushes you to act on those thoughts and desires The symbiote didnt think that killing kraven was a solution, Peter did. When we go inside his mind we see that hes thought about killing criminals and how it would be a better solution to locking them up. He even questions if he did right by stopping Yuri from killing the cult leader and hes symbiote free at this point. Lee even says that that might not be something Peter would think but it is how he feels, and you cant control how you feel. And seeing how the symbiote wants the best for its host it makes them act on these feelings instead of repressing them

i love how some of Venom's lines align with what Harry and the symbiote feel towards the character they are talking to like ¨We gave you everything you ever wanted and you threw us away¨ Harry pov: He gave peter the chance to work at his dream job and make a difference and Peter from his pov chose the suit over his life. Symbiote pov: They gave Peter everything they could offer and tried to make their host's life better just for him to throw them away like nothing and tried to kill them

There is also the cutscene from when Mary Jane zaps Peter to wake him up, and he says "MJ... Run!" as his voice switched to Venom's. Tony Todd did a Sensational job and deserves all the praises, as well as the Amazing people at Insomniac who knew to cast him. Everyone who worked on this game did a Spectacular job. The campaign is an Amazing Fantasy and is far Superior to whatever the current writers are making at the comics industry.

I like how Venom quotes are true from both Harry and symbiote perspective. Like when he said "We gave you everything you wanted and you threw us away!". I mean, it's a game about Peter and Miles, just like the first one was about Peter, so it makes sense there is a little of Venom here, just like there was a little of Miles in the first game. They are thinking about making a Dlc with him as main character though.

I think Venom being only in the last half of the story is a choice that every movie or game that introduces the character is "doomed" to make. If the whole point of the story is to get to his origin, he's not gonna show up until the climax because Peter spending time with the symbiote is always going to be a priority in order to set Venom up properly. He can have more screen time only if he shows up in a story in which he's already an established character. At least this game made sure to make every second with him count.

I love how at points during the boss fight, you can’t tell if it’s Harry venting at Peter or the symbiote. Harry’s mind is completely fused with the Symbiote. It’s impossible to tell where Harry ends and Venom starts at points… they are one. excellent writing

That’s the thing often missed. The relationship between the symbiote and its host is a two way street and just as it influences what the host wants, the host influences what it wants. Harry wanted to heal the world and the symbiote just went about it the main way it knew how, but making the world like Venom. Same goes for Peter. While I can’t confirm it, I even think this was why Venom didn’t try to kill Peter and instead tried to convince him to join them. Because the symbiote knows Harry wouldn’t want Peter to die. Plus I’m sure it itself had some attachments left for Peter since they were bonded for a time.
