Venom being an expert manipulator at the service of Knull is a really amazing story. The villain is divided into two parts, and it’s completely original compared to what Venom was originally. I love that Harry is truly a victim getting manipulated.

It really isnt original though. The symbiotic bomb of man and monster between Eddie and Venom was original. The fact that it wasnt Venim manipulating Eddie but instead the both of them being on the same page was unique. This incarnation is just a generic werewolf/Hyde dynamic where the man is just a meat puppet being dragged around by the monster.

All I'm saying is this: if Carnage shows up in the future, Venom HAS to return. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Yes, Carnage is a Spider-Man villain. Yes, Spidey may have the Anti-Venom symbiote here. But Carnage, more than anything, is Venom's main enemy. Somehow, Venom has to return to be a key player in taking out Carnage. Cletus Kasady is out there with that Carnage symbiote. Venom needs to be there to clean that mess up.

As someone who loves Venom and the concept of the symbiotes I was really hoping for this game to do them justice. And they most definitely succeeded. The symbiote here strikes a great mixture between psychological and cosmic horror. Every time it appears it’s a big deal and the story knows how to really focus on the impact it’s making on the characters and world. Also, I love that Harry is actually Venom in this game. I’ve always felt that Venom is Spider-Man’s best villain, so to have his dynamic with Peter here be so much more personal and tragic really makes the fight against him feel much bigger than if it were just Eddie Brock. This game seems to be teasing Carnage for the inevitable third game or even DLC for this game. I’ve got high hopes for what this franchise has next. It’s some of the highest quality content I’ve ever seen for Spider Man, right up there with SpiderVerse

There are points when you can tell when Harry is talking and when it’s the symbiote. “In the forest… we remember what you did” that’s the symbiote talking. I think that’s why Venom is such an intimidating villain. He can rotate between his host’s personality and himself. One moment it’s Harry (or Eddie Brock) and then the next it’s the symbiote.

Even when you consider the two times there was a symbiote invasion Venom was against it And while it is Harry, you also have to remember Venom isn’t a new character. He has a legacy of his own and turning the guy who once hated Peter more than anyone into a guy who wants Peter to be his friend is a spit in the face. I think what I like most is there's definitely aspects of humanity and overall kindness to Venom as well as everything else here. You definitely get the sense he ***actually*** thinks turning the world into Symbiotes will make everyone better and happier. He's not forcing open a portal for Knull to invade the planet. He's not actively running around eating the heads of everyone he comes across. He could've killed Peter like 5 times during their fight, especially AFTER he realized they tricked him and stole the meteorite. He didn't badly hurt MJ for that brief moment when it was just her standing there shooting him. He didn't even kill Doctor Connors and he was outright campaigning for his death over absolutely everyone else. And I think they made him more of a childlike Anti-Villain this time by design. Considering we're almost COMPLETELY guarenteed to be getting a Venom Spin-Off Game at this point since Insomniac straight up said "if he's received well enough we'll definitely consider it." And you have entire articles and websites and every place on the internet practically BEGGING Insomniac for a Venom Game. So I think it's all but guarenteed unless we get a rights dispute or some kinda corporate bullshit. I think this much more "kindly misunderstanding" approach to Venom's Character definitely served them best in the long run. All they gotta do is captialize on it.

Something that I really liked, is that in the firsts scenes that you get to play Venom inside OSCORP, there are a lot of red and blue lights, resulting in an ambience that gave the same highlights to Venom that the one of the Fox Kids Spider-Man animated series had. I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but it brought me so much memories and I thought it was a really nice detail.

The venom scenes make me realise how well theyve been building up this version of norman. Theres times such as with harry where he does care about someone else, but even then he'll willingly let hundreds of his employees die to the symbiote's rampage. Its like a more refined version of dafoe's legendary role in the first film: here, hes even more blatantly a desperate even cowardly asshole, and itll make beating him up in the third game something spectacular

I would too except with no previous connection to spiderman I think it would lose something going with Eddie. While I assume they will keep Harry in a coma to motivate Norman to do evil, I think him trying to fix the things he's done would be a good character arc, it would also cause tension with him and 'venom' which is always a good plot points in the venom comics when the host and symbiote don't always agree with each other.

He jumped from Peter to Eddie to Flash Thompson, all of whom were compatible/"perfect". But the compatibility ain't exactly exclusive. And compatible hosts are few and far between, hence the Symbiotes hostility to each other when seeking them out. I guess it all depends on whoever is writing the elements they wish to keep, ignore, or add from the source material.

Nah, Venom (the Symbiote) is still just a generic evil devilman. The Venom movies aren’t great but at least they actually gave Venom character (as simple as it is). Maybe someday people will remember that in the comics, Venom the individual tried to DO RIGHT, but wasn’t given the best of experiences even from the best heroes (like Spider-Man). He became evil because Peter seemingly abandoned him despite giving him more of what he wanted: being a hero. Venom just didn’t understand the full picture of a human being and that’s his character arc throughout the years. It’s even worse here because Venom’s just a bitch slave for a glowing rock and just really hates Miles more than Peter (insert ironic racism joke here). Oh, and he hates pain so much he wants to kill it or something; screams like a little pussy throwing a tantrum when he doesn’t get his way too. Why is this “the best adaptation of Venom” again? Honestly, I like this Venom for what he is but he also embodies the worst of the main adaptations: most media by being generically evil and the Venom movies by being a total wuss.
