Oh no. in this run peter has been just getting his ass handed left and right. This run peter can barely fight out of a paper bag. With it all starting with Paul. How does someone with spider sense, Super strength and the good old stick em powers gets pushed by a powerless human. No clue. Peter learned Kung fu ages ago still loses to tombstone. Gets pumbled by a regular crowbar and he starts begging for mercy. Same guy too morlun and juggernaut punches. Hell he took colossus pheonix powered fist. Didn't beg even though colossus begged peter to just stop. That crowbar though.

Because holding back or not, there is no excuse for him to hold back in these circumstances. Holding back against Tombstone or Kingpin means people die, especially Kingpin. The beat down Peter gave him before OMD proves that Kingpin should never be a physical threat to Spider-Man going forward. There’s no defending writing this bad

Tombstone taking control of new york to stop his daughter from becoming a monster I like. But we have a world full of unchanging villains, and that makes them boringly simple to me.

Bailey Briggs is a Superboy (Prime) analogue actually. Spider-Boy's backstory is about child trafficking, genetic experimentation and torture. He was completely erased from reality, only to return to a universe who didn't know he existed. Briggs currently serves as a Robin for Spider-Man, while generally not being used in more intense issues, as he's a 13-year-old.

I'll say it: I like recent Spider-Man. It shakes up the status quo. I don't like how the dealt Chasm, but the concept is cool. MJ wasn't really in character but the Paul thing sure was interesting. Spider-Man using goblin gear and Gold Goblin were super cool. The sin thing was kinda goofy but the Spider-Man villain arc was raw. I like that the Gwen/Norman affair was retconned but Kindred was confusing. I'd say it's all a net positive.
