Another thing the animated series did was have massive imapct on the Raimi films. Goblin's split Jekyll & Hyde personality originated in the Animated Series! Even the Venom nightmare and dream is almost exactly like the Alien Costume three parter.

It’s a damn shame John Semper doesn’t get proper recognition for the invention of Spider Wars/Spider Verse. There’s almost a hesitancy to acknowledge the show happened and the legacy it’s left behind, but the powers that be still cash in on its recognition through modern day “retro” merch. (Marvel Legends Walmart Exclusive Spider-Man, Diamond Select Mini Busts, Funko Pops, etc.) As long as I live, I’ll spread the word that the true creator of the Multiverse Spider-Man concept came from Semper.

John has so much love, passion, motivation and inspiration, he is definitely an example for me! And of course a creator of my eternal love for Spider-Man I hope that we will see Semper's Spider-Man with a voice of Christopher Daniel Barnes in the next year "Across the Spider-Verse". And of course, I would like to see so much the screen version of "Peter finds Mary-Jane". I believe in miracles and I believe here :)

Awesome interview. I always connected the Spider wars with the Clone Saga because Ben Reilly was in it and just thought this was a way to do it in a quicker cleaner way(never actually read it) but no this is totally the Spiderverse!

Same I loved the idea of Ben Reilly and the look of scarlet spider, then I read All of the clone saga and thought… ya maybe 2 eps on TAS was enough! .

In the 90s I hated Saturday mornings because I knew I'd miss Spiderman and X-Men cartoons due to Greek school. Was so glad eventually to see the entire series.
