god, this movie was BEAUTIFUL. i could connect with it so much.. it made me burst into tears. i would recommend this to ANYONE suffering with suicidal thoughts, depression, or anxiety. this movie was amazing.

This movie has seriously taught me about life. I myself am 15 and after reading the English lyrics to this song , I just cried . The lyrics of this song is so strong and inspirational . I also have a lot of worries that I can't tell anyone and these worries are just eating me inside , I always thought I was alone and there is nobody who will listen to me . But after watching this movie I got to understand the true meaning of life and being grateful for what you have and that there are a lot of people out there supporting you and being saved by you and that I am not alone I can confide in my family . This movie just teaches you so much . If you have not watched it please watch it. 🙏

I remember this and Grave of the Fireflies being the first anime movies in Japanese I watched. I watched this one so many times. As I grew, I still kept watching it whenever I felt like it, and so I understood many things I didn't back then when I watched it as a kid. For some reason, this movie just seems to become more and more beautiful every time I watch it.

I watched this movie 3 months ago, after going to therapy for about a year and overcoming depression. I really wish I had seen this movie a day before trying to commit suicide and ending up in the hospital, I really wish I would have seen how much I would regret it later and had asked for help much sooner. To anyone seeing this right now who's going through a difficult period of their lives, I promise you it gets better, hang in there buddy, you deserve love, you deserve happiness, you deserve to live, no one can take that right from you except from yourself so please when you're on the verge of giving up, ask for help, speak up, look at yourself in the mirror and say "I'm proud of you for making it this far, you can do this", I believe in you and if theres nobody out there that loves you just know that the only person you need to be loved and accepted by is you

This movie, was just on point for what it was going for. During the scene while this song playing in the background, Makoto talking to that girl, "it's not that we're just monochromatic..." (correction if that was wrong a little) that scene had me in tears for a while. What this movie had, it still hits you right in those feelings. I watched this film many years ago and I remember very well how I identified with the struggles of Makoto. Many years later, now I have children of my own, I have watched the movie again. This time it's the pain of the mother that really hit me. She suffers so much throughout the movie and the simple gesture of Makoto wearing her jacket at the end is suddenly so beautiful.
