Honestly, as much as I really enjoy watching these edits of Spuffy, I actually feel like this story was really well done! I say this because, considering the rules of this show's universe Spike truly didn't have a soul. Which made made him incapable of truly loving her until he actually had a soul. He saw her as an object to be fascinated by, same thing with Drusilla, except for the fact that Buffy was more than capable and determined to beat him up if she needed to. He was fascinated with being beat up and used for sex, since he didn't really care about her in a profound since. It was all superficial, including from Buffy's end because she was depressed and just wanted to find a way to distract herself. So, she let him use her too. I feel like it was actually a very good metaphor for people who believe they're in love for each other, but are actually deceiving themselves by using it as a band aid for more deeply seated issues. Which is why that near rape scene didn't feel out of place to me. Despite Spike making valid points in Buffy's defense when he had no soul, he would really do it with the intent of gaining her attention. And, before he actually got his soul back, I would like to consider that maybe although Spike thought he "loved her" he was actually just so "infatuated" by her that he actually was convinced that he loved her because h had never actually experienced true romantic love, not even before he turned into a vampire. He had been rejected, etc. He never had formed that true love connection. So, he had nothing to truly reference from to have a deeper understanding. So, I feel like the show's creators were actually very consistent with the universal laws and foundations they set up from the beginning of the show in certain ways, and thus from my perspective of their relationship, it was a masterpiece. I thought it was a very good metaphor for certain types of relationships in the real world. And, although I feel like Buffy eventually felt some affection for him, especially when he actually got his soul, she was still occupied with so much, and had already found a way to disassociate from her feelings when it came to Spike. Anyways, I still really enjoy their scenes and edits, and I know this comment was made long ago, but thank you for coming to my TedTalk XD

The only snag for me is when he protected Dawn and took a hellish beating and torture from Glory to do so even though he never thought Buffy would find out he had done that. He just couldn’t do it for his own reasons which he later confessed to what he thought was the Buffybot was that he couldn’t hurt Buffy like that. I mean, Glory really tore him up.

I was like 12 when I first watched Touched and I literally cried during Spike's speech lmao. It was the first time a tv ship really "moved" me, hence why I had to use this song for Spuffy lol

For Joss Whedon to not like Spike too much, they sure did one damn good heck of a job with his character. His speech to Buffy from the first few seconds of the video was his best words to her in the show (in my opinion of course 😊). "You're the one, Buffy." I cried when she cried. Brilliant video. Love Spike and Buffy forever. Separately and together. ❤

OMG this is amazing!! The parallels!! I can honestly say there were a few I never even thought of, and I have analyzed these two so closely for years, so that is soooo cool! Like the one of them catching the swords in their hands like that!! And I love this song choice! "You think we're dancing?" "That's all we've ever done" I love all the scenes of them fighting each other or "dancing" as Spike calls it, and all the scenes you chose to show of them fighting TOGETHER! Oh and I actually shrieked when I got to the "I can recall something that's gone from me" WHAT AN AMAZING LYRIC MATCH YOU DID THERE! The soulless vampire showing COMPASSION. That is my favorite episode of the entire series, and that moment just means so much to the evolution of this relationship and Spike as a character! It's too cool the way you combined the first time she's sees Spike withe the moment she realizes he has a soul. It's like a rebirth, and she is meeting him all over again, but this time she meets the man, not the monster. /cries/ Eek this is such a different video from any other Spuffy video out there! You MOVE me!! Thank you for making this gorgeous video!!!!

Lol it's so funny that you mention the "dancing" quote because I was originally wanting to put that quote in here somewhere but I couldn't find a spot/decided to keep the vid more "visual" based instead of relying on voice overs. The music, idea, you didn't just use their kisses or sex scenes, you created a story, and you even managed to show the similarity of their characters. Which even the show barely pays attention to. They write it but only when you analyze it you can see it.

So I can't believe it took me so long to watch this one of yours! I've never been a Buffy/Spike shipper even though I do really like how their relationship changed Spike by the end of the series. But this is just beautiful! And the parallels between the two characters that you highlighted in this... It kind of paints the idea that as Spike grew to love her, he began to mirror her body language and fighting style... and that just adds a whole other layer to them that I never really thought of. Absolutely fantastic! :D

Can't believe I haven't heard this song before. It's divine and fits perfectly. The whole video is perfection: timing, the parallels which are more compilations and compliment each other so well, each moment of this clip keeps you captivated. Personally, I never shipped Buffy with anyone, however you managed to convert me into this duo. They fitted so well. Probably, the most suited and well done video transcending Spuffy's true essence.
