Almost two decades later, but this show and this pairing remain truly unparalleled for me.
My last Spuffy video got to 900k recently and that just blows my mind and it makes me so happy that the buffy fandom is still alive and kicking even now!
Cause I will never tire of watching this show and spike and buffy will always hold a special place in my heart.
I tried focusing on their connection and how their relationship got to evolve along with their self-growth. They both brought out the worst and then the best version of each other out. Buffy learned to accept herself and accept love, Spike learned what real love really is and how to be a better man.
They understood each other like no one else did. And in the end they learned to trust each other and their relationship became so much stronger and I still wish they had had more time together to explore that.
Anyway I heard this beautiful song a while back and I knew i wanted to use it for spuffy and i also have better sound and video quality now! :) And ofc i had to make this video a minute longer than my last one lol.

When Spike told Buffy about saving her, every night since she died, replaying in his head everything he could've done better. It's so heart-wrenching and beautiful, sorrowful. The self-inflicted torture he placed upon himself, blaming himself everyday because Buffy jumped, and staying with Dawn out of guilt and pain, and love for Buffy. Spike is definitely the best character in Buffy.

Spike was truly the best character there, from antagonist to a champion. With or without a soul, he showed more than once that he was capable of loving, he became a better man for her and he sacrificed more than he could ever gain in the end. Almost two decades later, and this remains my ultimate OTP 💞

And I love their love story every bit as much as Angel's. Spike's love was the kind you'd go to war for. I was a BAngel shipper for a long time and I hated Spike coz I was jealous for Angel. It was only when I got older and rewatched BtVS seasons 1-7 that I realized how deep and powerful Spike's love for Buffy is. He fell hard for her even before he knew it, even Dru saw it. I love him for always having Buffy's back, he deserves to be loved by Buffy. Thank you for this video,made me fall min love with them over again.💕

Thank you! I'm rewatching the show and it's actually made me turn against Buffy. She was so cruel to him. She used him as a punching bag. It killed me to see how much he gave and did for her, and she seemed to take it for granted. I feel that Buffy should've made a bigger deal out of him getting his soul back, but instead, she was very nonchalant about it like he just went to go get a milkshake or something. I really wish we could've seen them be happy with each other and out in the open among everyone. Breaks my heart for Spike

I saw up to season 5 when it first aired, and now, 20 years later I'm watching the final 2 seasons and it's gut wrenching. One of my biggest annoyances with this show was how they just cut away from some scenes that could've really developed and been very moving. One in particular is where Buffy realizes Spike has his soul back and he lays on the cross. Visually - seeing Spike from the back, laying on the cross, up in smoke is just so achingly beautiful - AND THEY JUST CUT AWAY FROM IT!!! The episode ends and when the next one begins, it's another day, it's sunny and Buffy is in her house with Dawn. ??!!! This was a totally missed opportunity to see how Buffy reacted to this - what was said - how did she walk away from that moment. It guts me to not have a complete scene of such a pivotal moment! Spike deserved better.

Watching it the night it aired, it was so climactic that I stood the whole time right in front of the television. I had a week to process it since it was in real time for me and not a binge watch … it haunted me. Watching again here I still feel what I felt the first time. It was extraordinary tv. I bought the dvds but some of the emotional scenes I didn’t watch too much bc it hurt like a first love. I did however rewatch the lighter hearted first seasons.

OMG this video is just beyond incredible! I think it's definitely one of your best!! You literally had me crying and just stunned after I watched it. I really feel like you created a visual dissertation on why these two are the best ship ever and always will be. This should be shown to anyone who doubts the love they feel for each other or the growth of their relationship. I just love the scenes you chose to weave together! Some of them really feel very unique to your video. For instance, the way you started by combining Spike talking about how he dreams about saving Buffy from death over and over again with him saying he would actually give his life for her! That is a punch in the gut right from the start! So powerful! I always love the parallel of their bloody hands! OMG and the way you paralleled Xander's quote with Spike saying that his night holding Buffy was the best night of his life! Literally the two happiest moments in Spike's entire life were seeing Buffy alive again and holding her/being close with her through the night!! MY HEART IS GOING TO EXPLODE! I've never seen that paralleled before, but it was perfect! Gah transitioning from "We're mortal enemies. We don't get timeouts" to "what's wrong?" The way Spike INSTANTLY sets aside the fight when he sees her hurting!! What are you doing to me?!?!?! I love that Spike views their fights as dancing. It's foreplay, but even more than that, it's two equals coming together to express passion they can have with no one else. I kind of love your use of the "you haven't even come close to hurting me" "Afraid to give me the chance?" It sort of feels like this is not literal pain. Buffy is afraid to let Spike in, to allow herself to be vulnerable to the pain that can come from a love like that. The First slayer even says this to her when she says that Buffy loves so strongly and that's why she pulls away from it. Your use of that line, particularly before she finally kisses him is just so poignant! And then with Buffy trying to deny her feelings again! It just flows so well and really works as an examination of her character! Buffy being afraid to let herself love Spike for fear of pain and Spike taking on Buffy's pain out of a desire to be loved by her...JFC you really nailed that!! I loved that you combined the "You're in love with pain" and "I've come to redefine the words pain and suffering since I fell in love with you"!! And on that note the "put it all on me" moment!! YAS!! Spike let Buffy take out her own self loathing on him! I'm so glad you showed that. It goes to show that neither of them were in a healthy place to have a functional relationship at that time! But boy do you show how they grow from there!! ONE OF MY FAVE PARALLELS HAS TO BE THEM CALLING THEMSELVES MONSTERS!!! I seriously don't remember ever seeing that done before!! I haven't ever even put it together in my mind before! I LOVE THAT YOU DID THAT!! That has to be one of the coolest parts of the video. And yet even in those moments...Buffy is thinking of how bad she treated Spike, but Spike is literally saying she treats him like a man! And Buffy is acknowledging that Spike truly cared for her! It's just so epic!! You did such a wonderful job putting that bit together! Also the combo of him saying he cares about her and her admitting he cared, but that she wouldn't let him. Just wow. I freaking love Spike's "great love" speech! Notice it is a lot like Blair's quote to Chuck? hehehe xD Spike earning his soul back for Buffy is probably the most incredible thing any fictional character has done for the one they love! It is the definition of redemption, of love inspiring us to be the best person we could be. Honestly, if anyone can look at this and not see the pinnacle of true love, then I don't know what they're watching tbh. And the way Buffy FOUGHT for him once he did that for her. She spends a year fighting everyone left and right to defend him. She even has to defend him from himself FFS! I love that you included so much of her speech from Never Leave Me! Again I ask, how can ANYONE question Buffy's love for Spike or her being "deserving" of him? Not only did she inspire him to be a better man (the best thing you could do for someone) but she never let him give up or doubt that he could be the man he wanted to be. That is the definition of love. Anyone can fight me on this. God damn girl...combining his speeches in The Gift and Touched to show how selfless his love for Buffy is just makes me melt!! The ONE person in her life that loved her unconditionally and SELFLESSLY! The ONE person who never left her! Which is why I appreciate that you included her "I'm not ready for you to not be here". I love that Spike didn't make the choice for Buffy. She asked him to stay and he did. Do I think Angel leaving was ultimately the right thing? Of course! They were not able to truly grow together and build a partnership like she found with Spike and he found with Cordy. But he still made the choice for her rather than respecting what SHE wanted. Spike listened to Buffy. I adore that contrast! "There's a connection. You rely on him. He relies on you." Giles may take issue with this, but it is truly why Buffy and Spike are soul mates/true love. They developed a real partnership and trust. She admitted herself that she couldn't trust Angel. But she and Spike built that over time. And her saying as much to Angel "He is in my heart"...such a huge moment. If you notice, Buffy always used her boyfriends/dates to make Angel jealous. Every single one...until Spike. She says nothing to Angel about what she and Spike have. Angel has to pull it out of her. I always took this to mean she had finally moved on from Angel and found her true companion in life, and THAT is why I think she really sends Angel away in the end. Not because she is okay with Spike dying as opposed to Angel, but because Spike is her champion now. It was their fight.

You could not have said it more beautifully. When Spike didn't have his soul, you ever notice he NEVER went after Buffy's mom, or her sister. I think in S2 Ep 22, when he makes a deal with Buffy to kill Angel and to let Dru go, he noticed how she protected her mom, and did not know about her being a vampire slayer plus a high school kid there was a level of respect he had for her. It's admirable for a young lady, who has taken to be a slayer for a couple years, and protecting her own mother from worry of what she does...true respect.

Oh my god, that was so so so beautiful. The most complete and compelling video for those two I have ever watched. I recently rewatched the series and it still hurts and yet it just makes so much sense to me: the way they grew along side each other, pushing and pulling and always, always longing... They were the most perfect couple in the way they were so imperfect. It was an abusive relationship at one point, but they truly changed, and the way they treated each other in the final season just showed how much they didn't want to mess it up again. You reflected all of that in this beautiful video.

I love this edit, such good work, interesting that "Love is Blood" is not used in this video as it applies to them too, I love how you put some of the times Spike helps Buffy and she let him, I have seen many times season 5,6,7 and there are very subtle moments where you can see they are a duo, Spike is truly his sidekick, he waits for the sign to intervene, he doesn't overstep, he knows she can handle herself and even tho they are not really physical anymore after season 6, Buffy touches him a lot very gentle in season 7. Missed one of my favorite parts where she is really quiet when he says you never had it as good as me or when she keeps the lighter and lies about it showing that she really liked Spike. She liked him, and she felt for him but was in denial, you can also see this many times when she puts herself in the spotlight like : "why everyone thinks I'm still in love with him" "

So far, it's the best video about this pairing. You succeeded in explaining all their difficult (sometimes painful and rude) but beautiful relationship. The music was perfect, relevant and the quotes weren't too numerous but accurate. Even if I love Angel and his story with Buffy, I tend to prefer the pairing Buffy/Spike, more complete and deep in my view. Wow, thanks for it ;)

I don't watch this, so I don't know them like you but I was drawn in by your editing. You edit them so beautifully it also makes me want to watch the show but I tried to get past season 1 episode 3 and I couldn't do it. The beauty of the paralleling between them cannot be denied though, I love how you focused on the bond you speak of it's very apparent like Fitzsimmons or Clace. I will never understand why THIS pairing didn't get canon but the bland attempted inspiration of it in another CW show did with little to no development and full on toxic tendencies. This relationship you can see the two of them becoming more with each other and even separately as they're spurred through meeting- aka Twinflames. Like the other two mentioned by name, pairings but hey same people so of course they are haha. Truly astounding edit. The title drew me in, the editing kept me captive.

Thank you! I'm glad you decided to watch this even though you don't watch the show and could still appreciate it and connect it to other pairings! I think you should give Buffy a chance, since you love Reylo as well, I'm sure you would love Spike and Buffy's relationship. I personally started the show on season 5 the first time because I knew that's when Spike became one of the main characters and that's what drew me in! I find the first 3 seasons can be hard to get through, but 4 to 7 are just brilliant and heartbreaking and one of the best things in tv history imo!

Honestly, Season 1 of Buffy is the worst. But if you can try & get past it, the rest of the show more than makes up for it. Season 4 is when it starts to get really good as that is when Spike becomes a main character.

Season 1 is many least loved seasons, I struggled to get past it earlier this year too, when I watched it for the first time, but honnestly ? Totally worth it. Btvs is a goddamn masterpiece and I'm so invested in the universe (and Spike) that I'll even watch Angel the Series despite my lowkey hatred for the MC. I really don't like Angel, urgh.

it's funny considering the fallout with joss whedon, and his being a self-proclaimed "control enthusiast-" calling angel and buffy his grand love story, that he failed to recognize that spuffy was the grand love story. it just evolved unexpectedly, the way grand love stories do

He bullied Masters out of pure jealousy that Spike was lets face it a more interesting & somehow likable character than that block of wood Angel, a selfish man, who drank, womanized his life away & became the most evil sadistic vampire in that universe. Sure Spike was a close second but he was also a fun, layered character who actually had more depth than Angelus did.

@@Stuart267 i think it's a sign of good writing when you build a world and characters that they kind of have their own lives and the story writes itself. it's not about control. marsters is just a brilliant actor. you couldn't hate spike. he was funny and witty and cool. no one ever points out that angel was irish and spike was english. made for good conflict

@@lorio5003 I'm Irish & I still rooted for Spike. Angelus's God awful Irish accent was laughably bad. Spike's accent whilst at first was a bit Australian sounding at first was more believable than Angelus
