I have equipment envy. Nice chiller. I'm jealous. I do, however, have the CF10, and I love it

great video. we need more featuring the flex+. I know this video is kinda old but I am new to homebrewing and have a question. I just purchased a flex+ and am curious how you were able to perform a secondary fermentation without exposing your beer to oxygen. Do you transfer the beer to another container and then back into the flex to carbonate or syphon the trub out? I see two fermenters in the video. Did you do first fermentation in one and transfer to the other?

It all depends. Most of my beers I'll do primary and secondary in just the flex. Quick turn around beers IPA or Pales are usually done and carbonated in under 3 weeks. If your doing a beer that you wanna age long term them a secondary is needed and ill do that with a closed pressure transfer with co2 into another flex.

I am about to brew an Octoberfest beer in the flex. It will be my first use with the flex. I'm excited about it but I've been doing a bunch of research and asking questions before I start. I am starting off with purchasing the TC thermometer and sample port. And for now I plan to bottle but definitely want to keg. Would you recommend a carb stone or just carbonating in the bottles?

I added priming sugar to the bucket (before I bought a flex) before I bottled last time and the carbonation a was inconsistent per bottle. I'm sure it would be much better to carbonate in the flex before I bottle.

@@R-DUB72 carb stone. You'll never carb in a bottle again

That's what I like to hear. Thank you for the quick response. Bottoms up and happy drinking

For someone force carbonating just by using co2 in the keg you can use the chart for how setting PSI based on desired level as well as temperature. How do you go about measuring or estimating carbonation levels using the carb stone?
@chuckimbrewing93095 жыл бұрын
Use a carbonation chart.

@@chuckimbrewing9309 Is it the same as using forced Co2, where it will equalize and the carb stone will stop moving Co2 into the tank?

@@Awoit yes

@@Awoit yes it is. They say 24hrs but I've found 48 to be much more efficient.

So did you do a secondary fermentation in that, than just force carbonate it for 24 hrs? Or is the trub still in there?
@chuckimbrewing93095 жыл бұрын
That was a secondary with no traub. I have done IPA'S in it with traub and dry hopped and used it as a brite tank all in one. . Start to drinking in 2 weeks. Love these Flex+
