How those musicians and singers could keep straight faces when performing such over-the-top comedy is amazing.

Glenn Johnson Been a fan of Hank Williams music for over sixty years,so i guess this footage by Spike must have been seen by him in his lifetime. My late father loved Spike`s music and the humour.Very clever musicians and over the year`s come to appreciate the concept of his many recorded performances. If i had a time machine,i would go back and become one of the audience at one of his live shows.I have never seen this footage, just brilliant. Thanks for the posting.

Freddie Morgan had a face made for radio. But he was hilarious

Wasn't it Homer and Jethro who did a spoof of "Cold, Cold Heart" early in the 50's? I remember the line, "Why don't you go sit on a stove and melt your cold, cold heart?" Loved it then, but also love this version, which is new to me.

They have to be really smooth to handle things on live TV. Nothing fazes them, they just roll with it when the props don't work, etc. Sometimes it even comes out funnier when things don't go as planned.

@01:53 You can see how hard it was for George Rock to keep a straight face while doing his infamous falsetto in a German accent, saying such silly words.

Never mind, that wasn't George. George is standing beside Spike, opposite Freddy.

I'm guessing Snow Crop was a sponsor, hence the line, 'Snow Crop, the best of them all' ... or maybe they're like I was, and just enjoyed a great-tasting orange juice. 😊

Snow Crop was the mascot for a frozen waffle product. KZbin offers videos which show Sno Crop ads which were shown during Spike Jones TV shows. These are included as segments of documentaries about the life and work of Spike Jones. There was a little bear mascot involved. He was smaller than Billy Barty, so he was probably a small child in a toy bear costume.

Wow: they are purposely picking on ethnic groups and no one is offended or complaining. :)

Because in those days complaining was a sign of weakness, nowadays being weak is what everyone wants to achieve so they don’t have to preform

Yeah they are and its funny. My question is this; What’s more offensive, an ethnic joke, or a filthy one. Gimme a funny CLEAN joke every time. These guys were geniuses!!!! Trombone pants. Whoda thunk??

They were popular during WW2 and in the period afterward. Have a look at de Fuhrer’s face. Nothing was sacred to Spike Jones. He was all about deflating pomposity.
