Not really, the director was supposed to make a Halo movie, but when it was canned he moved on to make District 9 which was based on a short film he'd seen with the same premise, aliens stranded in Africa.

I loved this movie but it does have 2 major flaws: 1. There hasn't been a sequel 2. It was built in the dead body of the Halo film

I give this movie....BETTER THAN SEX! And 5/5 as well. District 9 is "groundbreaking. One of the best original Sci-Fi films since Close Encounters of the Third Kind." It's been 5 years since the movie just made and it's truly, remarkably and very brilliantly well made film period. I love this movie a lot. GREAT VID, MAN!
