Iirc there was one Fox exec who really didn’t get Deadpool and thought the movie wouldn’t hit. He even thought this after seeing test footage, and it took someone (maybe even Ryan himself) leaking said test footage and him seeing how people loved it for him to give the movie a shot. Even still, he remained against it until it released to be a smash hit.
