Don’t get me started on Kanye’s school. I went to a private school with that level of commitment to religion and no matter how creative you are, you are part of a very curated image of success. I ended up going to a different private school for my last 2 years of high school that, despite a strong Anglican background, had no pressure or direction for religious studies and a fantastic variety of students from so many backgrounds. We’ve gone on after graduation to do so many different and fantastic things because the school only boosted our potentials - it did not seek to mold us in any way. There is no way that Kanye doesn’t have a dystopian vision for that school and a narrow vision for the students. They’ll be judged if they go on to careers that do not glorify or ‘honor’ the religious direction that school encourages. Kanye’s own displays of disrespect toward the mother of his children reflects that. The students going to that school aren’t students - they’re parts of his vision.

I used to work for a family that sent their youngest to a small religious academy - if you weren’t intending on going to a religious college you were f-cked. She had great grades at the religious academy but ended trying to go one of the local high schools for her last few grades in highschool to prep for a real college. Holy heck (pun intended), she had to take almost all of the remedial classes they offered. She did amazing in them but was embarrassed at how far behind she was due to the amount of emphasis and time the religious academy put into the students memorizing scripture. She’d developed a weekly “study and dump” habit that she had to unlearn.

@@kateflack9968 I believe it’s the same here, of course you can take class pictures and post them in the classroom and in the hallway, but you can’t share photos of your students on your social media. You never know which student has a parent with a restraining order who shouldn’t know what class a kid is in etc

@@Ruthy101 does American now know there’s a thing called consent letters? Every school here in the uk make you sign something as a parent if you are ok or not okay for your child’s photos to be shared. My old primary school had loads of us up for about 6 years after we left

@@frogweiler2581 I’m sure you can sign a consent form to go up on the schools’ website, but the privacy protection here is against students photos being shared to school staffs’ personal social media pages, Snapchat, Instagram, etc. I know Austin isn’t school staff, but these laws exist for a reason. Thousands of people have probably seen Austin’s photo of the class, how many of those people know one of those kids? Maybe someone is not allowed to have contact with one of those kids, and shouldn’t know where the kids are every day from 8-4. Of course Austin wouldn’t understand this since he’s been posting Shylas kid even though she’s asked him to not post her daughter on the internet for her safety.
