It's great that your state doesn’t mind you fishing spillways, here in NJ you get asked to leave. One of my favorite spots for big smallies is under a waterfall/dam. Very snaggy, but nice fish. Good video

I've caught bullhead close to 15 inches and pretty close to 2 1/2 pounds. Fish for them in the early parts of spring and the bigger ones come out. But never pass up on a new 618 video when I see it.

Ah yes my hometown, Highland, Illinois. I have fished many times down in that spillway. I caught a 30 pound dogfish down there when I was a teenager. You call it a bowfin.

Lotta fish in this video! Those bullheads are a lot of fun. You have to watch out for the left, right, and top barbs. I learned a certain way to grab them to unhook them. Thanks for another awesome video!

Another spot is off camp Jackson rd where the Mississippi has creeks that flow into this large lake. Google earth it. Its 3 lakes but the 2nd lake is where I use to sight fish these large unknown fish that I could never catch. And the 3rd largest lake we use to catch catfish, drum, crappie and bass by the tons. I see you don't mind traveling and walking to spots that's not easily accessible so these may be really good spots for you to hook some really big fish.

I caught brown bullheads close to 6 pounds , you would not put your fingers in their mouths you may lose one. They bite very hard and can lock their jaws. Very tasty fish especially fried.

Hey man I have a couple spots I'd like to see you try in the area that you already fish. On 111 if you continue to walk past the spillway where the water comes out it'll take you to 3 different small ponds that we use to fish when I was younger man and I use to see my pops pull the biggest crappie and catfish out of that first little pond on the left hand side and it's another right across from it where me and my little brother both hooked into a monster gar that was about 8 to 9 feet in length no lie. A true monster that got stuck in there somehow. I'm not sure if you can access it because of waste management and if its their property now but man back in the day those ponds held some true enormous fish. It would be something to see you go back there and hook into some big boys if they still out there.

Have you ever tried 2" Keitech easy shiner? I hammer perch, crappie, and bass all winter with them. They work when nothing else will.

I rember years ago me and my cousins went fishing at a local creek few miles out of town and went fishing the bass bight was low but the bull heads where on fire hitting are lured left and right and even bending the wires on are mepps I threw out But the kicker was we for got the pliers to remove the. Hooks and the bull heads made sure we would never for get them again we had are thumbs. But down so much it made are thumbs black and blue and sore for a few days. But we kept fishing
