I've effectively not been able to grow seeds from spinach twice now. This season went to the garden center and bought two and brought them home woke up in the morning the next day to them having gone to seed. Trying one more time because spinach is a favorite in this household.

@TheRipeTomatoFarms
@TheRipeTomatoFarms Жыл бұрын
Great question because peas are the ultimate succession planter! If on a regimented interval, I'll plat them every 4 weeks....but if I'm using them to succeed another crop, I wait until there's only 2-3 weeks left for that crop to live, then the peas go in.

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms I have by far not watched all of your videos yet! I am learning so much from you! Thank you so much for teaching us that much! I am really grateful! Did you know you can slice up a tomato, put it on dirt, like in a bucket, over winter, and in springtime they will start growing seedlings? So easy to do! I learned from Stacy and Doug, off grid. They learned from the Amish people. I will keep watching your videos, and learn from you, to me you are one of the best teachers on KZbin! Even if you live in a whole different climate, I learn so much! And you don't make it harder then it is. Thank you so much!!! Hugs!!! 🤗❤(Blunder on my end, the tomato video and spider are of another channel I also love, Self Sufficient Me. He looks a little bit like you, not really, but enough to confuse me. This made me sad. I live in zone 9b (Houston Tx) and I can't even grow spinach indoors. I tried for the first time this past February and it was already too hot (this year's weather has been crazy weird even by Houston's standards). I'll be trying again this fall/winter; we have a really short and untrustworthy cool season (it will go from a high of 40f to 85f back to 50f within as many days), but I'm hoping I can get some spinach in. I love it so much! Are there any "warm" tolerant varieties you recommend that can stand Houston's definition of "warm"? 🤣 With that said, I'm having much better luck growing malabar spinach. It isn't "really" spinach, but it tastes very good and it's also very healthy. And unlike real spinach, it loves the heat! I bought starts from a local nursery as it is very slow to grow from seed (but grows really fast once it gets going). It's a climbing vine so it needs support, but it will climb anything. One plant produces a lot. It's an annual if things get below freezing; plenty of our winters don't, so we'll see how it goes.
