Going in for my L4/L5 ALIF tomorrow morning. Years of pain. And something made it even worse about 7 months ago. Turns out I have a fracture in the L5. I own a gym just outside Nashville so this has really messed me up physically and mentally. I’m hoping this can get me back in action in the future. You are the first person on KZbin who has been positive about the experience. Maybe I can join you on the good side of things.

Hate to hear what you’re going through! I can literally say I’ve felt your pain! Stay positive bud! Stay moving, be smart about what your movements are but don’t be afraid to push yourself a bit. Only you know your body and its limits. I’m no doctor, but I the facts are simple: lay around and you’ll just have a harder recovery. Walking and stretching A TON will get you there much much faster. Looking forward to hearing the good news. I’ve been neglecting posting my 1 year for a couple of months because I’ve been so busy! I’ll try to get it out today. I’ve been tentatively camping, hiking, kayaking, back to lifting and calisthenics! I couldn’t be happier with my outcome! We need more positive people in this community so post the good news if you’ve got it so people can see I’m not the only one. Haha

Yes…. A really really big one…. That I hated lol. I did for about 1 month every time I was up and about then pretty much just when I left the house, then I stopped when I was out walking and eventually close to the 2 month mark stopped altogether. I hated that thing

Thanks for the information. I’m 12 days post op L5/S1 Fusion ALIF & PLIF. I’m currently experiencing pain in my left leg while standing but when I walk, the pain goes away. Before surgery the pain was alway in my right leg standing and walking. Just wondering if you had any symptoms in the opposite side after surgery.

@@BrilliantBijou I did not have any pain at all outside of the typical surgery site pains. I wish I had something helpful in regard to the opposite leg hurting. After the pain goes away when you walk does it recur again when you stop walking and just stand again or does this only happen after getting up from a chair or lying position?

@@Poke_The_Bear The first week post op, there was no pain at all. I could stand for over an hour with no pain at all, which was a significant improvement. The last few days have been completely different. I can't stand for more than 2 minutes in the same spot without pain radiating down my left leg. Once I start walking the pain goes away. I'm hoping that the surgical area is just inflamed and causing nerve irritation. On August 4th I have my Post Op exam so we'll see. Thank you for your videos, extremely helpful and insightful.

@@BrilliantBijou being inflamed sounds logical. Hopefully that is all.
