took me this long to realize "king tut's tomb" was a tribute to the big comedy hit song of the 70s before Tap, Steve Martin's King Tut. Steve's playing music now.. funky tut paved the way!

I remember seeing Michael McKean in college in the early 90s in Columbia Missouri. He did a Q and A, and then said, "Someone special wants to come out," and then David St. Hubbins appeared and did a solo acoustic set. My cousin and I DIED. Little did we know, Spinal Tap would go on to do Glastonbury and Live Earth. We thought we were seeing the last of the Spinal Tap experiences,. But no. Still, I will cherish that memory forever. I mean, as a Spinal Tap geek it was a total moment.

Thanks for this. We saw Spinal Tap at The Warfield in San Francisco. They played everything; did the Guitar Solo, Nigel hitting the strings with ping pong balls while the other two were shown on monitors leaving, getting a facial and having dinner to return to the stage at the end, Stonehenge, etc....our faces hurt from laughing so much.

How am I just finding out about this now?! Right around this time that this aired, I was in high school and my friends and I were OBSESSED with Spinal Tap. We even dressed up as the members for Halloween and nobody knew who we were but that was ok in our book. I would've loved to have seen this back in the day!

Of course King "Tut" belongs on this list. Dude had the 14th biggest hit of 1978. Also rumored to have had an incestuous relationship and dude changed his name. Dropped Nigel off the front. Total rock star move(s), if you ask Jerry Lee Lewis. Tut channeled into Steve Martin and dropped his own name into the lyrics way before any hip hop artists or rapster thought to do it. Dude's a pop culture icon. Yeah,thats it.

@MRTHEOZONER

Freak accident. Drumstick bounced off his snare and shot straight thru his eyeball socket. Man, it was so hot, it sizzled for just a sec! Now there's a 40 odd year old band called "Mac". Mick Fleetwood's a God! Smiles
@RockyDave
@RockyDave 3 жыл бұрын
@@MRTHEOZONER This account of Mick's demise is probably correct. Of course, there's a conspiracy theory that suggests that he didn't actually die on this occasion, but retrieved the drumstick from his eyeball socket and ate it. He continued with the soundcheck, only needing one drumstick throughout the Tap's version of 'The Chain'. Then he left for a Vindaloo curry or two and was finally seen off by a Led Zeppelin falling from the sky.

Nigel just views all of history (recorded & unrecorded) as being the history of rock 'n' roll, because rock 'n' roll is everything to him. He's just more advanced than everyone else, so that's why he looks like the dumbest...
