Thanks Andy, is there a link / reference for the magnetic stop you had when tenoning? I have a felder 700 and could do with a simple stop for that too. Top tip - the cutter block is quite heavy and while it needs to be at the top of the shaft for over the top profiling (as when cutting the tenons) In would advise mounting it lower for all other operations - safer, less wear on your machine bearings and more accurate. Great work though buddy.

Thanks for the lead about Whitehill tooling. Been looking for a lock miter head that is not with a Felder $$$ pricing. Felder Profil 45 with 30MM and 1.25" spindle and love the flexibility. Keep after the grease on those bearing. Have asked Whitehill if they make a lock miter for .5 or .55" thick wood. Am building gun boxes at the moment and head phone boxes with finger joints. With a sliding table I feel confident I can lock miter with good results in red oak or walnut. Chicago

Have you tried back cutting? You can size the material whilst profiling.

"Spindle" moulder, not "Spindal" -- in case folks are searching and you don't want to lose that traffic. Or, in the US and some other countries: a "Shaper" That finger fence/guard is amazingly expensive when I last looked it up. Looks really nice, though. I ordered a shaper over the summer (it will arrive in January). I didn't get a power feed with it, but after seeing this and some others, I think I may order one.

Hi Pete, I would guess the fence you saw before was an Aigner model with the flip fingers if it was crazy expensive. Ones very similar to the one on the hammer in the gideo (with the sliding fingers that are locked with hex head grub screws) can be picked up pretty cheaply. Axminster used to do it as a off the shelf item for less than a hundred quid a pair, but I think they have discontinued them now. They do still however have them on some of their own brand (generic manufactured) moulders, so I bet with a phone call they could still be obtained as a spare part? They're bound to be available somewhere else too, as they came on machines that were rebadged for various different distributors. Not sure if that helps at all. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@carpentryjoineryandcabinet6335 That's good to know, thanks! Yes, pretty sure it was the Aigner one I saw on the Felder site. Aigner makes nice things, but they make Felder look like discount goods :)

Hi Andy, nice video again. I’ve got a Hammer spindle moulder/saw combination and am thinking about getting that Whitehill cutting block mainly for tenons. I’m just wondering about the low profile nut and whether it has the 2 long pins on it like the original hammer securing nut has? Do you have any concerns about it coming loose seeing as it’s only held on by a M10 countersunk bolt? I’d be interested in your thoughts… Thanks

totally different machine the cutter diameter gives you a much cleaner cut and its balanced so it cuts more accurately add a power feeder and it will give you clean accurate profiles and it much safer than a router table

1.25" is also a standard size in the UK. I'm fairly certain Whitehill still make blocks for that diameter spindle.
