I have seen many Chiropracters through my travels around the world. Dr. Ed is by far the first on the list. A person that actually listens to his patients and really gives you a pathway that is specifically tailored for your condition. The amount of knowledge spread in this meet was beyond words. Until next time! Thanks for a great session!

I remember my son being a sophomore in High School and me showing him your videos and he said he would love to be a chiropractor. I have a interesting question, so I have lower back pain, and i have random neck strains, but I also will at random times have my hand grip give out, as well as my legs, normally the left knee. Every person I have asked about what that could be has not had a single clue, even the neurologist was just like we don't know. But as this is something you do for a living, could these symptoms be connected together? Or are they separate? I am also putting this here in case anyone else has had, or knows what I might be dealing with that could help, thank you all for your time and have a pleasant day.

Would it ever be the case where you would want to move the lower neck and not the upper? I recently saw a video where the chiropractor said people who crack their necks are just moving upper/middle and so they wanted to specifically move the lower neck in the adjustment.
@Dr.EdMcLaughlin5 ай бұрын
A majority of neck surgery is happening on the lower vertebrae, C5, C6, and C7. These vertebrae are the most common ones to develop disc problems, arthritis, and stenosis. In my 17 years of practice, the majority of my patients have very tight or locked upper necks and very loose and overworked lower necks. When you crack your own neck it is most likely that you are only moving what it already loose...so I can't speak for whatever you watched, but my experience and my father's experience has shown a wear pattern in the majority of our patient's necks where the lower vertebrae are hypermobile and the the upper are very tight. Chiropractic Biophysics and the research behind it explains that there is an actual physics to our spines. When healthy, the spine contains specific curves (lordosis) and actually has movement patterns that allow it to essentially move in certain areas first...which keep it healthy. For example: losing the cervical lordosis and developing a straight neck or even a reverse curve means the lower vertebrae are no longer interlocked. When this happens, those lower vertebrae become the first initiators of movement and become overworked and abused (when the neck is curved, the lower vertebrae interlock and thus stabilise that region of the neck). The upper neck (atlas and axis) are actually designed to move first and have the greatest range of motion of all your neck vertebrae, but when you lose your curve, the roles become reversed and the lower neck becomes the main initiator of movement. This is bad, as those discs can wear out and then allow the spinal nerve roots or cord to be "hit". There is no disc around the atlas, which allows it to freely move with greater range of motion. When you lose the curve, your neck is no longer working as designed and the abused lower vertebrae are going to develop problems from overuse. So...the research I've studied and my experience do not support the idea that most people are popping the upper or middle neck...I am sure there are some exceptions to the wear patterns I see, but the majority of my cases have under-functioning upper necks and over-functioning lower necks.
