I dropped 5 scatters and got 20 spins on first stage and got to 3x before the 1x stage was complete and into the 10x during the 2x spins. It continued though the 10 spins at 2x and 10 spins 3x to 10 spins at 10x. On the super bonus bought not spun in. (Disclaimer it was on the demo slot on pragmatics site since I'm in the States and can't play for real, pretty sure its same odds tho.)

Yes I’ve gotten to X3 while on first stage, you go to 2x for 10 spins then go to 3x like you’d expect it to, it is possible but rare

If you get like 8 fisherman in the first 10 spins, you then go to the x2 and then x3, it doesn't jump from x1 to x3. Regarding the chains on the fish, it's a visual bug, it happens when you previously had scatters dropping down. Day 464 of asking Watch to do a bonus buy battle vs Foss and take him to Reapers.
