Thank you- the basic idea wasn’t mine first, I just found a way to do it without recreating each layer in full for every layer, so it makes it easier my way! Yon can use lots of different shapes of nesting dies as long as they have some lines of symmetry- there’s lots more videos on my channel showing lots of different ways you can use it - hope you enjoy having a go yourself 🥰

These are all on card bases and stand up- some are just on a shaped card base that I show you how to do with the same die you use to make your largest ring, some are on a square card base, some rectangular, and in the next video in this series I also did a hexagon shape (with a flower shape spinner too.) It’s such a versatile design, have fun!

Thanks for subbing! Good idea for those with digital cutting machines rather than manual - so easy to cut all the layers and as you say print to cut or decorate after! I do digital too, but don't have a Cricut, so maybe I could do a video on a Brother Scan 'n' Cut or Sizzix eClips (old but still works!)

You can use different shape dies as well as circles (I’ve done lots more videos with spinning puzzles using lots of different shapes that work well), if you have dies in any other shapes, but you can also use an old fashioned protractor or even draw around plates, cups etc if you are handy with a craft knife!

Awesome idea. I did see someone's video on using four different cards as you mentioned in the beginning. This is way better. Thank you, love it! Who is your large circle die and Thank You die from?
@handmadecraftLABUK
@handmadecraftLABUK Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I saw the idea and thought there was no way I would ever try it if I had to make everything 4+ times 😂 So I had to come up with a better way! The large circle dies are older ones from Tonic - I can't find them anywhere in stock, but I really don't understand why companies don't keep a stock of basics like these as there are always new crafters! I'm debating emailing them!! Craftstash do a circle set that goes up to 8" in their Creative range, they do go in and out of stock. The Thank You die is from Dawn Bibby Designs, it's a few years old, but may pop up in stock somewhere - I did a search a few days ago and I think I found one or two about in UK online stores. I used other shapes in the two follow-ups to this video, so you can use other shapes, you just have to bear in mind the colours on your liner pieces, but it actually makes it a fun accent in some shapes.

That’s true, I had to put a little water in my glue to get it moving again after it got cold, so it was a little runnier than it should have been at times 😬

Beautiful! Where do you find such large circle dies? My largest is 4.25 inch circumference which seems much smaller than these cards...edit...finally found set at Hello Bluebird with largest circle 5.25
@handmadecraftLABUK
@handmadecraftLABUK Жыл бұрын
Mine are Tonic ones (had them years) and the largest is just under 6" diameter, so fits on a 6"x6" square card if I use the largest. I know CraftStash do a set with the largest about an 8" diameter in their Creative range that goes up to 8", but it is out of stock, they have this set that is alternate plain and stitched with the largest 6" which would work as you could skip the stitched ones and just use the plain if you liked. They are called brads or sometimes split pins. You can get pretty decorative ones or plain ones- I show how to hide the head of brad in the next video in my spinning puzzle card series! Glad you like them- such fun and can be used with anything you like to decorate them- and lots of different shapes too!

Would a standard pokey tool (aka an awl) be able to be used to go thru the layers? That way you only need the first template and you can poke a hole straight thru the template and the layers.
@handmadecraftLABUK
@handmadecraftLABUK Жыл бұрын
I think you could use your pokey tool of course! I think I say it somewhere in this video (but I know I waffle a bit!) It depends how thick your card is and you might need to enlarge it a bit for your brads legs depending on how big they are too, but definitely possible if you don’t have the big crop-o-dile or other hole making tool that would reach. I know there’s other ways and tools to make holes, but I think this is the easiest if you have the tool.

What are the tools and machines required to make all these pls?
@handmadecraftLABUK
@handmadecraftLABUK Жыл бұрын
You only need nesting circle dies, or another shape of nested dies (check my other videos for spinning puzzle cards on different shapes), something to make a hole through the centres and a brad to go in the middle to hold it all together. You also need whatever you want to use for your image, and basic card making items like foam square or tape (but you could stack card bits instead), glue and low tack tape (like washi) to hold things together while you die cut. The only machine you really need it a die-cutting machine, but if you have nesting dies you need this to use them.
