Hello friends! Last week I brought home a four bags of Blue Texel wool. As wool is no longer economically interesting in Belgium the owner didn't want any money for it, but I promised her yarn in return for all that lovely wool, as she is a knitter herself. Because isn't that the dream of each and every knitter? Being able to knit with the wool or yarn of your own sheep?
And I sure kept my promise. In this video we will first scour the wool, then card it into dreamy, bouncy and flooffy batts and spin it to a DK weight yarn All the while I rant about the lamentable state of the wool industry in Belgium ... but also share some highlights of recent development of local wool initiatives about which I am very excited!
If you are not yet convinced that Blue Texel is absolutely amazing wool to work with as a spinner... I advice you to try for yourself ;-)
And today's big question: what is a fair price to pay for fleeces and handspun yarn?
