Spiral Concentrator (Test unit) - J.Farmer Mining

MD Spiral concentrator for continuous separation of heavy minerals.
This test unit collected nearly 100% of the heavy minerals without much tuning. I did have losses of gold in the minus 150 mesh size fraction but of course this is just an old test unit. I'm sure I will be able to fine tune my recovery with a newer model more rightly matched to the gold in my deposit.
This is a relatively steep "all around" test unit that would probably be better suited to upgrading material with a much higher percentage of VHM's. (very heavy minerals)
Plus this unit has only four turns and a 6 or 7 turn unit would allow the ultra fine gold to migrate into the concentrate line.
Material was screened to -20 mesh and did not need de-sliming.
Over all it produced excellent results.

A spiral can handle approx. 2.5 tons of -18 mesh per hour of screened pit run. They sell upgrading spirals for cleaning con's (80 - 90% black sand) that can handle even more.

The fact that these products work is evedenced by seeing the results in the videos - on this video the viewer can see the dark [heavy] concentrates formed to the inside line.

These videos are not very helpful. There is not 1 word of explanation of how this or a lot of the other products even work. There is no sign of evidence that they even work. Get with the program if you are trying to sell us on something.

Usually about 40 to 50% solids in spirals.

Depending on the volume your producing it's possible to use spirals, but a slimes deck shaker table would most likely be what is best suited for this size fraction. Thanks, Joe
