In this video I go over the details of setting up the JUMP but with adding spiral lights to your tree. There is more information on our website at www.brownchristmaslightshow.com/mega-tree.html

How do you determine spacing at the base. I’m doing a tree like this but 24 strings and it’s going to be a 6’ diameter circle.

This would take me 10 years to get done.... I take my hat off to you. Did you calculate what the megatree project cost?

What is the size of the 3D star you have on top?

I got 3 feet of 20 foot pole in the ground with concrete. 4 guys wires. we have 60-70 MPH winds tomorrow night. Am I OK?
@brownjm74 Жыл бұрын
I would HIGHLY recommend taking the tree down for those winds! If it's just the pole...then you should be fine...but if there is lights on it, it add a lot of weight and may bend.

@@brownjm74 pole survived. I dropped the lights down and added ratchet straps to the pole. Didn't budge! Where did you get your ground stakes at?

very very very thoroughly built!! :-) wow, we have a 20' mt and you go a couple levels above and beyond what I would consider to be amply engineered. I wanted to see this for two reasons, your anchoring system (guy wires) and also how you calculate your spiraling scheme, which ultimately is just something you eyeball on the first spiral strand and then just mimic for all of the succeeding strands, that was somewhat of a disappointment because the secret is there's no secret. :-( !! A note to others who have never built one and want to, we started with a 15' a couple years ago and this year added a 20'. That was a really good idea, bc 20' is a whole different beast and one should have a comfort level before trying a 20'. We don't use any jack/winch for our 20'. I think on balance, it is easier to go without the winch system. I also note that due to your wrapping your vertical strands on aircraft cable you have no 'droop' whatsoever, ours has none and has a little droop to it. level: the tree must be level. do that before you proceed to adding lights, etc, not just because it won't look right but also because it will be much easier for the wind to blow it down or do damage if its weight is not centered to begin with. Great job. I learned a couple tricks, so this is great for us to see. But I think we can put ours up in quite a bit less time! But you could probably have a f5 tornado come through the middle of yours, the whole neighborhood would be wiped out but the tree would still be standing!

Hello Jeremy I think your tree is awesome I've watched your video for a couple years now and finally decided to give it a try, so I purchased a 16 channel LOR but all the light sequence are for RGB , can I control incandescent or LED with a RGB sequence. Thank you for your help

John, I'm not sure and I have been "out of the game" for several years. I would try LOR forum to see if there is anything there about that.

Very nice and practical application of building the Mega tree. My 10 year old son wants one for our yard, but I don't think I'm ready to tackle something that big. By the way, the houses behind you looks familiar...you don't happen to live in Corcoran?
@theresaheiney66937 жыл бұрын
I just heard you mention that you live in Michigan. Sorry. The house behind you looked just like the house we used to live in 10 years ago.

Lot of work but it makes a real nice tree. Good video. We would have to put in anchors in October here as by mid November the ground is froze too hard and snow covered.

Is it me or do mega tree youtube videos only get filmed in windy days?
@CSDM153 жыл бұрын
I guess so they can make sure the tree can stand the wind
