Thank you for sharing this. I am very happy you are using the Interfit light. I bought into that system almost two years ago and have not regretted it. I have not seen many photographers use them. So I was happy to see you use the LED. I was wondering about that light as I have the Honeybadger and S1 monolights. I just love your videos!!!
@GavinHoey4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Patty. The Badger Beam is the first Interfit light I used and it's already the best battery powered LED light I've tried (and I've tested dozens of LED lights in recent years). I think it's a keeper 👍

Love the content as always! Lucky to have Sam BTS. I imagine these would be near impossible to do without her.
@GavinHoey4 жыл бұрын
Hi Robbie. Without a producer, these would be VERY different. Sam monitors our audio, changes camera angles, keeps an eye on the upload data, fires the questions to me and helps keep me on track. Utterly indispensable!

Fun stuff, Gavin! I started doing these on film, in the 1970s, and we used to call them "physiograms". I thought I'd add that in lieu of putting gels on your flashlight, you can also simply hold them over the camera lens. This lets you easily change to more than one color, if you like, during the creation of a single exposure. And, since the exposure is so long, adding and removing the gels won't show in the final exposure. Thanks again, and take care!
@GavinHoey4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike. 70's beats me. I did my first one for Digital Photo Magazine only about 20 years ago! In the full live session I touched on gelling the lens. Unless you use glass gels expect a fair amount of distortion and loss of sharpness but yes, it's possible.
@MikeJamesMedia4 жыл бұрын
@@GavinHoey You're right of course, Gavin, and I should've mentioned that I used glass filters, and not separate ("krinkly") gels!

Excellent tutorial Gavin. The barometer spiral at the end reminds me of the opening titles of Doctor Who (the Peter Capaldi version). Sam seems to have quite a few artistic and technical skills. Is she an artist or something in that field by any chance? How about having a tutorial one day with her teaching us how to make props and you doing the producing/ monitoring?

Hi Gavin, Didn't you do something very similar a few years back using a photoshop plugin? Just found it, 8 years ago. WOW, times flies.

When you set your initial focus for the Spirograph light what exactly did you focus on? Assumedly the stationary torch tip? Does it even matter at F11 or F16? Very inspiring BTW.
