***** I have not tried Serum yet but may give it a listen now that you've mentioned it. I know it's new and I tend to wait for the bugs to be be worked out of new software before I buy it. I love Spire because it's solid and a mature product at this point. As for CPU, I haven't had any problems but my DAW is running on like a 12 core Mac based studio desktop monstrosity so I shouldn't. I do recommend freezing or bouncing if you find yourself coming up against your CPU's limitations. It's good practice if you're on a laptop or a slower computer to do this once you have all your automation set. I do this whenever I work on my Macbook. This may be a change in the way you work but in the end you'll probably make more epic tunes as a result :)

SyotosGod Spire us a powerful synth. Yes you can create your own sounds with it. That's the whole point. It's a synth. Nexus you can't but its still a great tool as well. Spire should be what u get first if u are new. In all my releases I have barely used nexus for anything more than pads and pianos. But it really excels at those because its sampled hardware. And not all producers create their own sounds all the time. It's quite the opposite in fact. More use presets than sound design so there is nothing wrong with using these banks. Don't get caught up in the whole "I must create my own sounds to be legit" theory. It's simply not true. Use all the tools available to you and make music.

Ryan Meursing still need nexus for sampled instruments like pianos and stuff...which is really all i ever used it for anyway. and silent is better to use in a lot of cases because its so much lighter on cpu
