Honestly with the current roster I've seen for The Spires, I think they have the most rounded out and role-designated force out of all of the factions as all areas can be easily covered as with a 2000 point army it can claim objectives with a biomancer taking a regiment of stryx for a suicide opening punch against enemy light troops with three force grown drone regiments to take and hold objectives with the biomancer giving them endurance, a high cline executor providing hard hitting ranged power, and a lineage bringing an elite core of hard-hitting centaur avatarum with a mimetic assassin to take out key enemy characters/officers.

Thanks Doug! I've been waiting for this video, and you did not disappoint! This was a joy to listen to! Though one thing I'm surprised you didn't mention during the character section was that you can combo the Biomancer's "essence transfer" ability with most of the Pheromancies from the Pheromancer. Because when building your command stack, you can have the Pheromancer buff or heal a unit, putting their card at the bottom, then you draw your Biomancer and can *immediately* activate with the unit whose command card you just put at the bottom with the Pheromancer. One other thing to keep in mind that you did briefly touch on when talking about the Incarnate Sentinels is that you said there was an overall reduction of Cleve in the game as a whole. Though from what I've noticed in my personal research, the Spires don't have much Cleve to begin with. So that gives the Sentinels a unique space that they occupy in the Spires Roster. Counting unreleased models, the only units that have Cleve are the Sentinels, the Avatara, the Abomination and the unreleased Pteraphons. But the Sentinels are the only ones with a Cleve higher than 1. If you ask me m, they seem to fill an anti-armor niche that you'd otherwise have to rely on Brutal Impact to mitigate. I've not played much Conquest myself, but in the research I've done on my own, I've learned most of the Spires damage comes from weight of dice. But the Sentinels put out higher quality attacks. So while they are the "Smashey" units, I think there's maybe a bit more to them than that. Or at least what *makes* them Smashey in a different way to your other heavy-hitter unit options is what makes them an interesting and useful pick. Because these guys with Burnout from the Directorate, and/or Pheromantic Drive to let them Clash twice gives them some *real* force. And they can punch through some of that heavy Dweghom armor better than most other units when they don't have to charge to enable Brutal Impact. (Side-note: The Incarnate Sentinels *and* the High Clone Executor went from Resin to Plastic)

One thing you didn't bring up with the various brutes is that the standard bearer gives the regiment "Unstoppable", meaning they re-roll failed charge rolls: for anything with impact THAT is the real reason to take a standard bearer

If you are new just buy the starter boxes. All the leaders are good, but to start with I'd actually go with a starter set that has a Phoromancer because all the things that come with it will be very useful. Then I'd go with the Cone Exectuors starter set as they are also all useful. Then I'd just get a Biomancer. Currently those are the 3 best leaders. I'd also pick up a box of sentinel incarnates.

It sucks they nerfed the Sovereign Linage, no more buff to evasion. Honestly the Sovereign Linage is kinda bad now.

Phoromancer is really good if you run two of the same cards back to back. Then you can buff and draw the second card to activate that unit.

Awesome stuff. May I suggest to do a video on City States? Like Spires they have some very fine and not easy to grasp details that are supposed to work together and CS states players might enjoy the input. Btw. using your code with each of my orders, got to help those cats!

19:41 I tried this one and that really worked well with the marksman clones for me once. I think its not very competative, but it is fun to build the high clone as a ranged character. 22:15 I dont agree. I think its probably gonna be horrible for balance, because all the restricted monsters the High born got are just insane in powerlevel. They should add a new unit to that list if it needs a non avatara mainstay. 28:20 😂 So I dont got infeltrators (I builded my kits with sword and shield). Is this a mistake? Or rephrased: can I play this faction without them? (I got a lot of Force Grown Drones and brutes, and couple of clone marksmans and normal vanguards). Normally I play underspire, but I do want some medium units to score objectives with (I play 2000pt games)

@@Emperor_Atlantis centaur avatara are terrible, leonine would be awkward as a mainstay but doable. Pteraphons and incarnates def not. And Mr. mantis shrimp definitely not but monsters aren’t really mainstays anyways
