9.27.16 I purchased this exact bag due to this video. I was able to cut the wheel protector on both sides with a blade. It's important to cut both sides because it will not pass through. I was able to stuff the bag for a 4 day trip but I could have gone a week with this bag. as long as you roll up every item. I was manged to throw in a pair of running shoes, a big big and thick book. If you chose to overstuff your bag, it best to flip it upside down if a flight attendant ask you to verify your bag. It will be a little tough to get it out but if you place one hand underneath the bag, it's easier to push it out of the box. ***Another tip, I was able to carry a small sized purse without an issue. I believe the size of the bag was 8×4.

Tie two or three colored ribbons of different lengths around the handle to your luggage to warn others that this is not their luggage. People grab luggage at the turnstile and take it home before you ever see it. Use a man’s “half windsor” knot for the best look. Anywhere you put your bag, it could be grabbed in error. Example: overhead compartment, unloaded from the bus, at the hotel lobby, turnstile........ Use 3/4” wide ribbons about 12-14” long. Cut the ends at 45 degrees then seal the end with one drop of Super Glue to prevent fraying. If each ribbon is slightly a different length by 1/2” or so, they will all show no matter what. Tie the 3 ribbons as if it were one ribbon using a half Windsor knot. After it is tied on, the total length of the ribbons will be about 5-6” from the handle. A little longer ribbon shows up better. You can see it from 40 feet away. Perhaps tie two handles, top and side of case. Put your phone number on one ribbon using a permanent Sharpie. Choose one ribbon to have an unusual pattern or fabric to really make it unique. Layer all 3 ribbons on top of one another like a sandwich. Then tie them as a group with a half Windsor knot, which the same as a man uses. Stand by the output hole of the turnstile to reduce the chance of someone else grabbing the piece. Tie your skiies, duffel bag, and what ever with matching ribbons-even your computer case.

i got the same bag. i flew last friday. and it did not fit because of the protectors on the side. so me trying to fit it in a pushed it hard and it fit all the way on upside down but it go completely stuck because of the wheel protectors. It was so embarrassing.. this random stranger that to come help me and my bf get my bag out. we literally had to flip the free personal item around to get my bag out :( good thing that once it came to boarding the lady wasnt picky at all. she didn't even make me put in the personal item case. but now that im in Miami im leaving tomorrow. so today i will cut those wheel protectors.

I have a backpack thats technically 3" taller than the 16" height they restrict you to (It has a stiff, not foldy back for the laptop sleeve), but It's not very stuffed or big. I'm thinking I will be able to fit it if I sort of set the backpack down on a slant. Is there someone that stands there watching you do it?

I purchased this bag no problem with it getting through at check in. At MYR airport, the agent helped me get the bag to fit in order to avoid the $100 fee. If you are flying Spirit I highly recommend this bag in order to avoid their nickel and dime fees.

Yes, they want you to put the bag in the box as well as for you to not turn the bag upside down in order for it to fit. Overall they're pretty lenient at MYR.

+azndevil95 my flight outbound is delta which im very happy about but spirit inbound im not too happy about but i am hoping that i dont have any problems. im going to leave the tag on my bag with the inches that are obviously within the limits then they wont be able to tell me its too big what so ever. im hearing awful things about spirit ive never flown with them but im hoping i dont run into any issues with layovers or anything of the sort because i will be bull!

I cut them off with a knife. They also didn't check the bag at all. I've done one international flight and one domestic flight & have been fine both times. Spirit is good if your needs are simple. They cut all the fancy stuff out & get you extremely cheap flights for it & I think it's worth the gamble.

Does anyone have the actual measurements of the inside of the box/bin? Left to right, front to back, top to bottom? I'm asking because I've heard stories where people stuffed a 24 inch tall carry on into the bin that clearly says it's 22 inches. ??? If any of you have actually taken a tape measure, and measured the bin Dimensions itself, please post the video!

Be warned: Effective 3/16/2016, Spirit is reducing size of "personal" bag by 1 inch width and 4 inches thickness. "For travel after 3/31/2016, dimensions must not exceed 17 x 13 x 8 inches (43 x 33 x 20 cm) including handles and wheels." So this bag is a no-go.

I used the smallest gym duffel bag, the one with the square ends, and didn't overpack it. Just make sure it can fit into a 8x14x18 space once packed.

Hello everyone it's Sunday September 3 2017 I just left lax cause I drop by to see if the American tourist tote would fit in the Spirit Airlines bare fare box and sorry to say this but it doesn't fit cause the wheels don't let it go in the box completely . What I did is got ride of the wheels completely and now it goes in . Spirit has a sign that says it has to fit completely in the box wheels too. Just a heads up I hope this helps anyone out that's looking to buy this bag.
