My wife is from Ireland and she was absolutely fascinated by Spirit Halloween. How their business model works, how their stores are laid out. Every year since she moved here she wants to go to one of them a couple of times. We dont buy anything she just loves the feel there for some reason.

One where it's focused on being the "eve of all hallows" and mocking evil before the Catholic holy day on November first - like cutesy mocking- trick or treating in ghost costumes and playing some little tricks or pranks (harmless) or the other where people act like they are embracing and celebrating evil- decorating their homes and dressing with evil and grotesque over-the-top decorations and costumes? Spirit Halloween is way more the second type- plus all their stuff is the cheapest made-in-China garbage (I can't imagine what those Chinese workers are thinking while they're making that stuff- probably wondering what's wrong with us.) that we refuse to buy. Party City is one tiny step ahead of them- and only because they're not fly-by-night.

It was always hectic. Otherwise the worst part was that you work the most on the days around Halloween and it’s really hard to get the actual Halloween holiday off, so if you’re working there because you love Halloween, you won’t actually be able to celebrate yourself. I should have realized that before I applied 🤣

This year a Spirit Halloween opened up in an old, abandoned Rite Aid near me. Throughout the years the parking lot has hosted numerous "businesses". It's had a questionable food truck, Trump store tent with various merchandise, a guy selling every type of flag known to man, Girl Scouts peddling their cookies, high school kids hosting car washes, parents with kids too lazy to wash cars begging for money so their kids can go on some vacation, people selling frozen ribeye steaks at cut-rate prices, a fake designer purse seller, and someone selling Egyptian cotton sheets. Every time I drive by there it's something different. I wonder what will pop up when Spirit Halloween closes this year.

@@canaisyoung3601 It's a rare exception, though, to the last thing you just said. This skit is the most low-hanging fruit imaginable, and it mostly just bites off a Portlandia-style parody vibe. Plus, they get some basic facts wrong about the store's operations for humorous hyperbole. (e.g. Nov 2, no '6 weeks', and no dumpsters) No need to shill for SNL50.
