According to yoga vasishta there are seven stages in the path to Self-realisation. The first two stages are 1)subecha and (2) suvicharana. They can be translated as good intention and enquiry. Spiritual awakening is the first two stages mentioned above. In this stage a seeker starts to think about the meaning of life. We are doing the same thing everyday….eating, sleeping, making money and so on and at last,one day we die. Is there anything worthwhile in this life? Thus he becomes discontented and disgusted with the present state of affairs and seeks and finds out a guru and starts his spiritual practices. This is called spiritual awakening. The end result of spiritual practice is Self-realisation.
