I have watched at least 30 other limpia espiritual videos and subscribe to Ecuador Live, who originated this ritual as asmr. In every single one of these videos, the ritual cleansing begins with the sign of the cross and the words "En el Nombre del padre, Hijo y espíritu Santo." It's the Espiritu Santo who is being thanked. the ashes /earth on the forehead I always in the form of a cross, signifying the cross of Jesus. The names of Joseph and Mary are invoked frequently. The truth is, that the limpia is traditionally a mixture of the indigenous cleansing rituals practiced by Maya, Mexica and other shamans and then Catholicism which was introduced by the Spanish 500 years ago. So these cleansing rituals absolutely are religious as well as spiritual.
