I listened to many competitors, I found about 6 of them of great level, but this deserves the victory for me. Excellent sound, respect for dialogue, perfect timing, one of the few competitors to have developed a nice musical theme, unlike many who have only maintained a musical tension. For me, this is the winner.

I agree in everything you said but Mr Maccarelli has supported all his song in musical tension. I consider this one, one of the fewer winners!! I wish that final choir was just earlier so we could enjoy it a little bit more! Solid yes

@@JavierMadinabeitia Thanks Javier ! Yes I'm Agree. I composed this cue in two days..and then I uploaded it. If I have hade more time, to do more "revisions" I would have slightly changed the ending. One version like this with music on the Logo to To enhance the WestWorld Brand and HBO, and another revision with an early ending. Anyway many Thans for your comment !

I have to agree with you James. I only found out about the competition 8 hours before the deadline, but I had a go anyway! The original used Wagner's "Ride of the Walkyries." I tried to utilise anther "iconic" piece of Classical Music, Allegri's "Miserere" as I liked the juxtaposition of the 'serenity' of the Allegri contrasting with action onscreen. It was a solution I knew I could do in 8 hours! Got it in with literally 2 mins to spare! In retrospect, I was probably trying to to be too 'effete' with my Classical Music background. Stefano's score harmonically is straightforward, and may not have worked in the hands of a lesser orchestrator. But his brilliant orchestral sensitivity, and ability to create 'space' in his score, is what nails it for me. His is by far the best solution for that tricky "he's changing genres" moment. I think most of us just motored through that (I know I did), probably scared of disconnecting the urgency of the rising dramatic tension. Stefano demonstrates a confidence as a composer here, by trusting that his audience will come with him, as he allows the score to 'relax' into Aaron Paul's 'altered state of awareness.' And the pickup immediately afterwards is uncontrived and elegant, because he knew not to relax too far away from the dramatic pace. Maccarelli's score is deliciously understated, and consequently subtly highly sophisticated. It has the feeling of complete and authentic homogenuity with the footage, something I think many of us found harder to achieve than we perhaps might have expected. Wow! Just had a quick look at Stefano's website! This guy is responsible for Zero G's Ethera Gold sample library. I ADORE the Ethera series!!! It's one of those sample libraries, that - if I've got absolutely no inspiration whatsoever, I can open up Ethera - and guarantee myself that the way these libraries never fail to engage me creatively, they will always give me something. A unique quality among the libraries around today!

Loved the nuances. Notice the separation of sound between the Interior (Car) cuts and all exterior cuts. The bang when the bike enters the frame in the end. The Explosive Choir highlighting the crescendo. The music is telling the story! Truly one of the best entries. BRAVO! 👏👏👏

Yes, Exactly, then I want to say that I approached the work in this video: 1) Not knowing the story or the characters 2) seeing it as if it were also a promotional video as well as a Film Cue when I see a LOGO and a Logo Brands like HBO I consider it an integral part of the video, so I try to value it. 3) If I had studied this TV show would probably have given a less "epic" touch, but seeing only the images without knowing anything else, this was a possible interpretation made in 2 days of work.

Robert. It is amazing what you were able to achieve with so little resources (i.e. Spitfire Audio LABS). I personally believe that most of us (including me) went way too much on Epic Sounds. You probably made a point that none of us understood the objective of Spitfire Audio in this contest. I was not a Westworld viewer before this contest and when I heard the Valkiri used originally on this sequence I found it totally ridiculous since it is mostly associated to the movie Apocalypse Now and Captain Kilgore character. However, I fell into the trap like so many. Maybe the winner of a Spitfire Audio contest will be the ones who uses Spitfire Audio library in a simple and creative way because then why having this contest showing Heavyocity or EastWest product and brag about it on a Spitfire Audio web site? LOL Cheers
