For the lucky people who have been able to skate this place, all these tricks are so incredibly insane. the spine transfer boardslide is so fucked. Just to get near the back wall/quarter lip is hard, let alone do lip tricks. the late bigspin transfer isnt human, omg, props to this team of legends
@mariusgoddert25023 жыл бұрын
Thought exactly of these two tricks you name. The late Bigspin, wtf.

@@roybatty4578 I saw that tag saying "skateboard or split". I've been skating a long time, but I'm not sure if what I could do there would even qualify!! Fairly intimidating.
@roybatty45783 жыл бұрын
@@Rufusdos Ok if you're set on going here's my advice. If you can get up to the coping on any ramp with two feet of vert and you're comfortable with roll ins, getting used to Burnside's flow is a good two hour learning curve. If dropping in is scary for you and you're more of a tech skater, don't go. Also, plan on rolling a joint for whatever locals are there if you're from out of town, they're only cool with the non-locals that smoke 'em out.
@Rufusdos3 жыл бұрын
@@roybatty4578 Erk... that's me ruled out, then. I've never rolled in over the coping on anything bigger than a miniramp, never reached the coping on anything vertical, and weed is not part of my life. Cheers for the reality check!!

The hardest thing about skating this place is you can't see the transition shape or size until you hit it. Even coping is different also but it was a pleasure to skate. Even thing is large or steep I would skate very or be proficient in a 6-7 bowl before skating the main section. But you could just roll around and watch :) Haven't been back since 2002 ish

The video does no justice to how fast you have to go to hit this stuff. Its full send all the time in there. now im an old man but in the 90's to the mid 2000s i went there as much as i could. the place is gnarly. these dudes do an amazing job making it look effortless. but even the rolling in and pumping the park takes a serious amount of effort. its not that sweeet smooth surface that parks made today or in the last 10 years have. this place is a national treasure. you gotta rip to even be able to pump this place properly. i remember when the park was a homeless hangout. the pool was full of all kinds of nasty fluids. going at night was sketchy back then too. its def got a better vibe there these days.

Last month I went to Portland and haven't been there since 2017 when I lived there. Revisited Burnside- holy fuck it is so different now. Adding that loop/pipe was a shock. My buddy I went there with has never been- so when we got home, I wanted to show him the park in THPS 1&2 & show him how different it is. Granted- it's waaaay more spaced out in the game, but it seems the irl park is getting crammed a wee bit. Plus the piss smell still burns the eyeballs like it use to lol
