I agree, as a f5c pilot sometimes I get hit badly and it still sort of flies swaying side to side. Also if you get hit by an r60 in the rear 50% of the time nothing happens to you and you are fine.

My opinion on the spotting system: Honestly, I feel like something with how tanks are spotted in ground might work. Up to like 5 km in a 90 degree arc infront of you will be always spotted, up to 90 degrees to either side might be 4.5 km, then everything else might be 4 km.

Spotting system actually does work like that (atleast its supposed to) Keen vision stat deals with spotting enemies who are inside your field of vision (aka the part of the sky visible on the screen). Awareness stat affect how enemies aren't in that are spotted (significantly lesser range than the first kind), really helps because enemies show up as red dots (flashing if freshly spotted) on the mini map. I think the ranges increase when flying close to allies. The problem is that it is inconsistent AF, some enemies get spotted from waay far off, and others get close enough to shoot you without being spotted. From what I've experienced, permium aircraft seem to have some sort of advantage of less likely being spotted, no way to confirm tho

It's not a "bit less" engine power, the f5e without afterburner on has as much thrust as the f5c WITH afterburner

The F-5C's afterburning thrust increases relatively more than the F-5E btw. The thrust numbers in the X-ray mode are not representative over the entire speed range of the aircraft. (afterburning) Jets get an increasingly more thrust at higher speeds. Here: an example of why you should not always blindly trust the given numbers. F-5C reaches about 2250kgf per engine at mach 1 (which is about a 800kgf+ gain per engine, +56% thrust from advertised thrust) whilst the F-5E has about 2550kgf per engine at mach 1 (which is about a 300kgf increase per engine, +13.5% increase from advertised thrust). Given that the F-5E is also a little heavier (~800 kg heavier), they both have comparable to pretty much identical T/W ratios when afterburning. What about when they are not at mach 1? When do they reach their advertised thrust? The F-5C reaches its advertised thrust of around 1420kgf at a mere 360kph already. The F-5E reaches its advertised thrust of 2220kgf at nearly 900kph, at this speed the F-5C produces about 2000kgf of thrust per engine. The difference is thrust is not as large as it is on paper. The F-5E however does kick the F-5C to bits in T/W when both are not afterburning. Use a tool like WTRTI to get the actual thrust numbers in real time. I hope with this I cleared up some of the confusion, because if the difference were this huge, the F-5E would be literally a rocket if we look at the performance of the F-5C.

I bought this when I was at rank 5 jets, so I'd seen missiles before. Nothing could've prepared me for the leap that was rank 6. Missiles all the time. Needless to say, I died all the time. After a few videos and plenty of games, I've gotten better. Don't expect to do as well as this guy here though, his aim with the cannons is unreal. I get happy if I get one kill with my cannons. I did always play arcade before the F-5C, so no lead indicator was hard to get used to, especially since when I thought my lead was right, it was too far behind because of the speed at which those jets fly. It IS a really fun jet though. I managed to make a guy waste all 4 of his AAM's on me. While he got me with his guns, I was happy to waste a lot of his utility. It's a large jump in skill. You've got guys who have played more War Thunder than they have spent time holding their kids. Be prepared to be shat on a lot, but try not to take it too seriously. After all, you're playing games for fun.

Just bought it for the Christmas sale. Everything said in the video is spot on. It’s super fun to play, the missiles aren’t great but useable on oblivious players. The shear power to weight ratio of this thing is insane for 10.3. It is mediocre are energy retention in turns and climbing yet some how manages to gain it back extremely quickly even with probably the smallest jet engines above 8.0. It’s a blast to fly but right now it is in a weird spot. With the addition of 11.3 some times I find myself in matches being the only plane that isn’t 11.0 or 11.3. Other times I find myself in a match full of 9.3s as one of the only planes 10.0 and above. This isn’t its fault more the trash balancing system that plagues this game. But other then that it’s super fun to play. And OMG the cannons. They are mounted on top of the nose like many prop planes making it extremely easy to measure lead distance in-front of targets. Probably the best 20mm in the game. I think they top the Vulcan

Spit, long time sub here and 9 year WT Vet. They need to change spotting. Turning radar on and off watching dots phase in and out of existence is pathetically stupid and was done for ground RB, and they don’t even have markers on planes anymore. Bring back the dot system at any range past Br 8.0 (I think it should be all BRs but whatever). I really wanna see your take on this idea though; every battle that’s 10.3+ is a 4v4 match. The servers went out the other day and I got into 2 or 3 matches with only 2v4, 4v4 and like 5v6, it was SO MUCH more enjoyable. You could engage people and the match lasted longer with people making actual plays (not spamming missiles and flares at everyone who isn’t paying attention).

Boy, it sure is fun to fight this fucking thing at 9.3 with the F-86K. Faster, more maneuverable, better missiles, FLARES, and all I've got is a shitty afterburner, two of the worst missiles in the game, and the ability to wing overload in a hard turn. I've seen two types of people flying this piece of shit so far, a couple clueless idiots who flew in a straight line and got obliterated, and whole teams of seemingly coordinated veterans who tore us apart as soon as they looked at us.

my personal experience it's one of if not the best 10.3 aircraft in wt history, even at 11.0 it can very much hold it's own if you're not dumb, in a dogfight this thing is an absolute monster especially with minimum fuel, i've ran multiple tests against nearly every top tier jet and the ONLY jets that can match it are the MiG-21Bis, MiG-21SMT, the other F-5's, Mirage 3 series and Draken, that's it, any other plane you can absolutely smoke if you're confident in the F-5C even MiG-23's, F-4E's and FG/FGR's it's ridiculous how much you can just throw this plane around and if you know how to manage your energy you can basically dictate how the dogfight happens. Even the Aim-9E's aren't a joke either, yeah they're not J's or D's or G's, but they've been EXTREMELY reliable for me in my own personal experience, this thing is a pure support fighter getting enemies distracted for the heavyweights like the FGR's, F4E's etc but once the initial moshpit of missile spam comes to it's mid-end point you can just go straight in and brawl without too much worry as long as you keep an eye on stuff, all in all it's probably my favourite fighter to bring up to 11.0 lmao

Some idiot in an F5c airbraked me despite me already being super slow and ended up overshooting by like a km which I then proceeded to kill him cus he couldnt manage his energy and stalled out 1km above me. He then went on a rant about how broken the mig21mf was and how his F5c should have easily won that fight and how broken the mig21mf flight model must be. Yea I had some pretty mean words for that guy, namely "you suck". I think the FM is broken cus gajiin wanted the noobs and "experienced bad players" to have a chance in top tier despite not really knowing what they were doing.

You should try out the F104A or C. After the BR decompresion they are way better, rarely sees 11.0 and 10.7. Most of my games are 9.7.

my personal experience it's one of if not the best 10.3 aircraft in wt history, even at 11.0 it can very much hold it's own if you're not dumb, in a dogfight this thing is an absolute monster and it's CAS capabilities are really good too, although it only has AiM-9E's they are still very capable missiles you just have to time them right, it's an easy to learn plane but it takes time to properly get confident with it and once you do it's an amazing plane, in my opinion it's actually worth full price and not overpowered, just so many people playing it at the moment

Pure ass, unless you are playing the Phantoms and F-5 or MiG 21 bis/J7E, everything else is trash, took way too long to unlock my only top tier, the east german MiG 21, only for it to be mooved at tier 7, with 0 countermeasures, only 4 IR guided missiles, vs Phantoms with 8 missiles of wich 4 of them are radar guided, and with thousends of flares, so wen you finally get on one, it can simply spam the flares and get out of it. Also the spotting system is pure garbage, you can double check your 6 before getting on someone's tail, but somehow get shot down by an invisible plane from a km away. Oh and they also added the Sagittario 2, an italian 8.0 that belongs in 8.7 atleast, it can outurn and outclimb eveything at the tier, while having 2 30mm guns with 1400m/s muzzle velocity.This thing on a downtier verses Me 262s ffs.
