For me, losing this version hurts even more. Nearly all of the animatronics from this version came from the extinct attraction America Sings. That was always so fascinating to me and it breaks my heart to see these animatronics that have a big history at the park be thrown away and scrapped.

This wasn’t just a ride in a theme park for me. It was really important in my life. I had very dark times for many years and I would just think about this ride and listen to the music and pull myself through those times. A few years later I would go every weekend and it kept me going. Kept me wanting to live. I know it’s dumb to be so attached to a ride and a theme park but i needed it in my life. When I was a kid and teenager my dad and I had a terrible relationship that was abusive. But Disneyland was where we had happy memories. When we were there everything was magical and we were bonded and happy. Splash mountain was our favorite. We would point at the bear butt and yell “butt” as we went down. After the big drop he would always flick the water on me playfully. Here we were happy. It was our happy place. Our record was 8 times in a row to go on it. I have dreamt of bringing my kids here when I grew up. Now I have kids of my own and I don’t know if we will. This company has become something completely different now and I can do nothing about it. I’m deeply upset that my happy place has been taken away from me. Not that anyone asked. But tonight I’m sitting here crying about it and I needed to just get it out.

I'm just trying to inform: Around the time Disney made this ride, they tested Song of the South with film audiences to see if reactions changed from when the film released. They didn't. Audiences still disliked the movie but they went along with the theme anyway. There was definitely a controversy but it wasn't that big because not many people knew the film. It was only later when people found out about the film online and what the characters actually were that led to the current day controversy. (Side note: you can definitely still love the ride it's really fun and I'll miss it too.)

Spectacular. I first rode Splash in June of 1989, during the first night of cast previews. I was too young to be a cast member, but I and a few friends befriended Tony Baxter and the late Bruce Gordon after obsessively watching construction. They invited us to ride and it's something I'll never forget. Floating around the beginning of the ride, listening to "How do you do?" is whimsical perfection that can't be beat. In my opinion, thus makeover is a huge, unessesary mistake. Splash was timeless and wonderful. A 1920's restaurant co-op? I just hope it turns out better than what has been released so far. Wonderful video. I will be enjoying it for years to come.

I’m really sad cause this ride is closing for a long time and getting replaced with a new ride (rest in peace splash mountain) 😢😢

I will forever miss one of my favorite rides at Disneyland. May let it rest in peace 😢. Hopefully the new Tiana ride doesn’t suck and I hope the imagineers leave something behind as a memory like the country bear jamboree show to Winnie the Pooh ride.

Splash mountain is one of my favorite Disneyland rides, and while im happy that princess and the frog is getting a new ride, ill miss this one so much. I know its controversial, but from what i can tell nothing about the actual ride is, just the movie. Either way i guess Disney is doing this for the best, but splash mountain has always had one of my favorite ride atmospheres, its so pretty and happy. Rip splash mountain, thanks for great childhood memories.

The best ride period. It was perfect. Never forget how much modern Disney hates you and your family.

Really great footage. Smart that you made it in multiple passes (to clean off moistened lenses). Beautifully shot. I feel as if I've ridden the ride, one last time (albeit without the wet seat usually included in the actual experience). Thank you for this.❤ Rest in splashy peace, Splash Mountain.💦🐰🐻🦊🦫🐿🐓🦆🦢🐸🐊🥕🦦🦉🪿💦

I'm definitely gonna miss Splash Mountain for sure since it's my go to ride at Disney whenever it's hot outside or just for giggles and smiles! It's just so much fun, and I remember when I went to Disneyland for my birthday last year, I rode on it in the front row! Talk about a fun birthday for sure! Thank you TPMvids for this final fun and bittersweet farewell to this amazing ride. I'll miss it so much, can't wait to see it as Tiana's Bayou Adventure!

I wish they had made an animated feature called Splash Mountain in the early 1990s after Lion King, Alladin, etc. They should have used the voice actors from the ride and used updated animation, it probably would have been a colossal hit! Splash Mountain is my favorite ride of all time, and it wasn't until I was 19 years old that I found out it was based on an actual film. I always thought, why was there never a film made about these characters... If they would have made a new film with just the animated characters in the 90s, it would have separated it from the controversy and the ride would still be here today. I think that the Disney Company made an error in not putting out a new Splash Mountain film during the Disney renaissance of the early 90s.
