Beautiful Piece, thanks for sharing. I’m a beginner turner, lot of practicing for me. I tried my first segmented bowl last week from scraps. Full View and Like 👍

Good video! Love the finish on the vase. Nice animation on the rings. The number of pieces is an easy calculation: n! =n×(n−1)!, simple factorial, so with 13 rings and the plug I think the answer is : a lot....

Project turned out great. I like the colors as I am still experimenting, LOL. Just curious, no sand and seal before the poly ? Thanks again for sharing.

Hi Curtis, thanks for watching, sanding up to 400 grit, but I usually don't seal. My first two coats of poly are a bit rough, I sand after second coat and then subsequent coats are nice and smooth. That's just how I do it.

OK, So I have one last question, what thread are you running on you Vicmark lathe that allows you to swap chucks across from the tailstock to the Headstock so easily. Thanks
@fromthewoodpile82484 жыл бұрын
Hi Warren, I have a live center product from Oneway that has a # 2 morse taper, it fits into my tailstock, it has a 3/4" by 10 tpi male end. (see link below). And then I have an adaptor that screws onto the live center, the adaptor has an M33 by 3.5 metric thread, that matches my vicmarc lathe and all of my chucks. (see second link below). I'm able to take chucked projects from the headstock and reverse them onto the tail stock. I then bring the tail stock with the project up to the head stock chuck and the work piece is perfectly centered. oneway.ca/products-category/holding/Spurs,%20Drivers,%20Centers/Live%20Center/2%20MT%20Live%20Center oneway.ca/Live%20Centre%20Adaptor%203-4%22-10%20TPI%20to%20M33*3.5

@@fromthewoodpile8248 thanks for all the info, sadly my lathe runs a M30x3.5, which I cant seem to find an adapter from 3/4x10 TPI. I may have to try make one....

Stunning piece of art, keep this up and your subscribers will definitely grow. May I ask what species of wood you used on this please?

Thank you Warren, much appreciated. I used Maple for the vase.

@@fromthewoodpile8248 , Thanks, yeah I thought it was maple. Trying to find that here in Australia is like trying to get a date with a super model.

that's awesome, we haven't heard that here in Canada, but so true for many things, thanks Warren

@@fromthewoodpile8248 OK, YAY , I actually managed to find some.... $16 per 40" length at 4"wide x1" thick. That's the price you pay for imported timber I guess!! (At least it is here in Australia) Can you tell us please what dye that was you used to colour the vase. I would like to copy it if possible please. Thanks again. :)
@fromthewoodpile82484 жыл бұрын
Maple is very common in eastern canada, but not here in Alberta, we would pay about $7Cdn for that amount of maple. The dye is a liquid based, I mix it with methanol as it doesn't raise the grain like water does. I used black, then red, orange and yellow. Here's a link www.woodessence.com/ColorFX-Dye-Accent-Color-Kits-P49C12.aspx. Austrailia has something similar from www.ubeaut.com.au/distribs.htm

Without going back and cheating I’m thinking 13 rings with a guess of 12 per ring, and 1 plug for 157 pieces
