No doubt the coolest part about Splatoon's music is that almost every song is attached to an in-universe band, meaning that every song has some lore behind it! Allow me to explain the songs you've reacted to here. Anarchy Rainbow, Til Depth Do Us Part: These are two festive songs made by the idol trio Deep Cut, whose music is an interesting blend of various cultures' music, derived from the members' cultural influence. The cold-blooded Shiver brings in elements of Japanese folk music, including the vocal technique of kakegoe, a sort of shouting and singing. The hot-headed Frye brings in elements of music from India and the Middle East, even playing the Indian pungi flute similar to a snake-charmer, albeit for her collection of moray eels. Finally, the cheerful composer Big Man brings in elements of festive samba from the Brazilian Carnival, in combination with his passion for dancing befitting of the festival. The songs in question are quite different in tone due to the vastly different context. Anarchy Rainbow is a hub theme, a festive celebration as Deep Cut performs, whereas Til Depth Do Us is a high-octane battle theme. Tentacle to the Metal: This battle song was produced from the collaboration of rock band Damp Socks and the renowned idol duo Off the Hook. Off the Hook provides the song's vocals, though with a notably different style than their older work. The loud-mouthed Pearl drops her standard rapping style for more drawn out vocals, while the brainiac Marina sets aside her turn table for the piano. I'd definitely suggest checking out Off the Hooks other work in a future video! Liquid Sunshine: This song is actually a collab between the Squid Sisters, a renowned idol pop duo appearing since the series' debut, and "Ian BGM", a thinly veiled alias for Big Man of Deep Cut. The Squid Sisters are your traditional idol pop band, performing various peppy, poppy, electronic songs for Splatfests. Liquid Sunshine is quite as special, as it's the first original song the duo have done for a Splatfest since the original Splatoon. There's honestly not much else to say, it's just a really happy song! Frothy Waters: This is one of the many strange songs of ω-3, pronounced as Omega-3. This band consists of a trio of Salmonid, a warrior race of Salmon with a taste for chaos and combat. The best genre I can think of to describe their work is "experimental war march". On top of the bizarre combination of instruments, those being a cello, timpani drums and turntable, Omega-3's work uses a variety of strange composition techniques to add to the frantic nature of the Salmonid migration. For example, Frothy Waters starts at a normal 4/4 time signature then quickly spirals out of control as a new beat is added every measure. This gives the song this climbing feeling of anxiety, fitting for a game mode in which you have a limited amount of time to reach a specific objective. Bear With Me: This song is credited to Grizzco Industries, a proficient company in the energy industry with less than savory business practices. But that isn't all of the story. According to a developer interview, none of the music credited to Grizzco is actually produced by the company. Rather, it's outsourced to some unknown third-party. Generally speaking, Grizzco's music tends to be very messy, often using a repetitive melody over and over again, like a jingle at the end of an advertisement. Bear With Me is no different, except for its more grandiose tone befitting of a final boss fight. (God I hope someone actually reads this) Edit: It appears someone has actually read this. Edit Edit: IT APPEARS MANY SOMEONES HAVE ACTUALLY READ THIS.

Frothy waters IS supposed to be a very stress inducing song, because it plays during special waves in Splatoon's sort of zombie defense mode, and most of these waves are very dangerous and can lead to your team getting slaughtered. plus, you're on a time limit.

amazing video moment now for context of Bear with Me and the bear creature you showed: Phase 1) supposed to be a innocent and cheerful song with something not exactly being right with it (the drums, or whatever they are, are off beat and the rest of the instruments are on beat) Phase 2) mood shifts more to the uneasy side and takes more of a tone of the bear’s company-related themes (more on that down lower) Phase 3) the theme takes itself seriously and tries to be intimidating for the final phase The Bear) -Owns a business that manipulates denizens of the splatoon world to gather materials for him for an evil plan or something -one of 3 mammals left on the entire planet -his name is Mr. Grizz and he is a wacky dude

also the song is part of the final battle of the singleplayer, hence why it's got such a different vibe to the rest of the songs. it's supposed to be a big dramatic moment: it's still got some of the silliness that the series is known for, but it's rather serious and grand. and another little thing: you noticed that the vocals of Bear With Me sounded like someone making a noise in the back of their throat, and that's intentional! kinda. The setting of Splatoon is in a post-human society, so all the sea creatures have a heavily filtered voice and speak in gibberish. But, if you pay attention, you'll notice that the vocals of this song sound more human, because he's one of only 3 mammals left on the planet and therefore has more of a connection to humans than the sea creatures.

A big part of appeal for Splatoons music isn't just the unique sound and nature, but also the culture and world building. Every single soundtrack in the game is made by an in-universe character, group, or band with their own personalities, backstories and genres. Listening to a Turquoise October track will be different as opposed to listening to a Deep Cut performance, because they're two different groups with their own styles and genres. Most of these bands don't even appear in the game at all outside of references, and yet we have album covers, character designs, backstory, and some we even know where they are right now. For instance, the two major idols in Splatoon 2, who were originally more hip hop, pop styled, ended up wanting to experiment with genres and between the second and third game, joined an alt rock band named Damp Socks and perform the vocals for the current standard battle track. The appeal isn't just in the music, but in the world and the characters that form them. It makes it feel like Splatoon really is it's own world with it's own music culture. Trends, genres, styles, bands, and more.

For context for the last two tracks, frothy waters is a theme for a super chaotic game mode and the song is meant to build stress, and bear with me is the theme for the final boss of the single player story mode. Believe it or not the story of splatoon can get surprisingly dark, especially with the octo expansion in splatoon 2 (which also has a really good soundtrack)

Splatoon is so good at breaking the rules in a way that you still end up with a really fun and cool song. The music is so central to everything about the series.
@ceediculous1842 Жыл бұрын
The thing about the Splatoon franchise is that music is a HUGE part of the whole in-game world's culture. Music literally has the power to affect the characters to their core (certain melodies can help you understand feelings you've never felt before, characters canonically perform songs in the bg to cheer you on, etc) and as such, it plays such a massive part in the game. My favourite bit is that the devs really went all in with this concept - each song is performed by one of the many fictional bands that exist in the splatoon world, and each band has their own unique flair and vibe! Not only that, but they even bothered to give all bands fully designed characters with personalities, relationships and backstories. Bands break up and form as time goes on. It's not the kinda lore you can find that easily but there's many videos out there about all the splatband lore there is, really neat stuff. Music also varies between game modes a lot. Online pvp modes have the multitude of splatbands who all have their unique flavour of energy and hype, splatfest (a limited in-game festival period held on occasion) has more festival- and the main idol trio-focused songs. Single player music varies by game but most of it is funky and kinda silly stuff made by the enemies, believe it or not; a band called Turquoise October. Similar story with Salmon Run; the music is played by the salmonid group ω-3 (Omega-3) and it reflects the hectic, panic-inducing chaos that the mode instills in the players. "Frothy Waters" is one and that's why it's so chaotic. "Bear with me" is (spoilers ahead) for the final boss of the single player. To summarize, the cute giant teddy bear is trying to destroy all sea life and current civilization to bring mammals back - and he happens to be your employer for Salmon Run. So it's meant to feel uneasy due to the fact you, by playing the mode and helping him out, have unknowingly allowed him the power to do this and destroy everything you know and love and it drives this home by sampling and scrambling the very familiar and cheerful Salmon Run theme. You know, just a normal kiddie game plot, nothing eerie about that at all. And for those who don't know; Splatoon is, in fact, a post-apocalyptic shooter! It takes place about 12 000+ years in the future on our very planet. Humans wiped themselves out and due to rising sea levels, sealife as a whole became the new rulers and moved onto the land. Splatoon 3 goes really into quite disturbing detail on how it all happened and how inklings and octolings evolved to be humanoid in the first place. Overall, Splatoon is just so fun and creative among so many of the samey super realistic and gritty shooters out there. Not to say they're all bad, but Splatoon is just so unique and fun. Personal recommendations for reactions would be some single player tracks from all games ("Tentacular circus", "I am Octavio", "Shooting Starfish", and of course the bing bang song "Seep and Destroy"). I also recommend p much all of the renditions of "Calamari Inkantation", the most influential song in the game. 3MIX from S3 is my fave but they're all bangers. I also recommend the S2 Octo Expansion DLC ost, my personal faves being "Nasty Majesty" and "Fly Octo Fly/Ebb and Flow (Octo)" from Off the Hook (Marina's vocals kick ass ok) and "#8 regret" and "#14 crush" from Dedf1sh. The dlc is a lot darker in tone compared to the rest of the game and the music has a more eerie tone to it as a whole, though these picks aren't great examples of that jfkffkk Lots of recs but still. Great video, I do hope to see more Splatoon music reactions. I love seeing more people discover the whacky vibes and bops Splatoon has to offer and I love your attitude towards it. Many are easily turned off by the vocals and don't appreciate the music at all, so I'm happy to see actual appreciation from someone new to it all! Sorry for the essay though, I get passionate about things I like. Oop

Interesting to hear the opinion of an outsider who has never played the games or heard the music before. Obviously, music like Frothy Waters and Bear With Me make more sense with the context of the story happening in the game, like Frothy Waters being associated with being overwhelmed with literally hundreds of chaotic and ravaging salmonids, and Bear With Me having some of the Grizzco theme and story mode song parts put together. There's still plenty of songs that are different in the other games, so I'd like to hear your input on them too! And even recommend getting into the game if you're interested! This video kind of reminded me of how I reacted to the music when I first heard it with Splatoon 1.

Context for the songs from this video: The first one, Anarchy Rainbow, is the almost main song from the idols of Deep Cut for Splatoon 3 and is played exclusively during splatfests. A splatfest is when the player base gets to vote between a set of topics, usually it's only two topics, but there's three idols in this game so instead there's 3 topics. Anarchy Rainbow is only played in the outside map when the 3 idols are performing. The second song is one of the songs that play in battle, specifically battle theme two. Till Depth Do Us Part is also sung by Deep Cut. Tentacle To The Metal is another battle theme but I couldn't find out which battle track it is. This one isn't from Deep Cut, but is instead from Damp Socks, a band that also composed Candy Coated Rocks, feat Off The Hook which was the two person idol band from Splatoon 2. Liquid Sunshine is (last time I checked) the most recent song to come out for Splatoon 3. It is from the Squid Sisters, the main band for Splatoon 1, feat Ian BGM, who is literally just Big Man from Deep Cut but without the rest of the band. Liquid Sunshine plays during regular battles. Frothy Waters is one of the Salmon Run songs that only plays in certain occurrences(I think it mainly plays during glow fly rounds). Salmon Run is the 'work' game mode. Frothy Waters is from ω-3, a band made of salmonids, which are made to be bad guys for Salmon Run. The band uses a lot of cello, timpanis and electronic sounds. The last song, Bear With Me, was also called Anomaly Showdown by fans as we didn't have an official name for it for ages. It's the main boss theme that plays while the player fights Mr Grizz, and has many sounds in it that are reminiscent of many of the sounds from the Salmon Run songs. This is because Mr Grizz is the CEO of Grizzco, the company in charge of Salmon Run.

Hey I just discovered you. Let me give you some quick context on the stuff you heard: So first the Idol stuff: "Anarchy Rainbow" and "Till Depth Do us part" are performed by a fictional idol trio called Deep Cut, they are the mascots of Splatoon 3. "Liquid Sunshine" is played by "the Squid Sisters", they're idols from the first Splatoon game. "Tentacle to the Metal" are sung by another fictional idol duo from Splatoon2, called "Off the Hook." This game has lots of these fictional bands sung by human VAs and some studio magic. Okay so Frothy Waters and the bear thing... There's a game mode in Splatoon 2&3 called "Salmon Run", you are employed by Mr. Grizz (the bear you saw) who is paying you to risk your life to steal precious golden salmon eggs from savage salmon-monsters, and rushing to meet the quota before the time runs out. Frothy Waters makes sense there cus it really does feel like a chaotic warzone. "Bear with me" is a tune from a story mode boss fight. It uses the leitmotif from the company lobby where you start a Salmon Run shift.

I will always support getting new people getting hooked on Splatoon music. Too many people dismiss the music because of the game’s colorful atmosphere and it being “for kids,” but so the series has some of my favorite music in gaming. You know a game is going all out for their music when they even make up lore for fictional music bands that write the music in the game. If you do another video on Splatoon, I have a suggestion for a couple tracks to check out from Splatoon 2 (preferably in this order): - Bomb Rush Blush (a solo piece sung by Callie, one of the game’s celebrity characters) - Tide Goes Out (a solo by Marie, another celebrity, part of the “Squid Sisters” music group with Callie) - All three phases of the final boss of Splatoon 2 (phases 1 and two remix the first two tracks in a really interesting way, and phase 3, Calamari Inkantation, is kind of the main theme of the single player campaign.) Finally (last thing, I swear) the track “Bear With Me” is the theme for the first half of the final boss of Splatoon 3. It’s actually a remix of the hub area from a game mode in Splatoon 2. (Long story short, the bear you saw, Mr. Grizz, was running a really shady business, which was a side gamemode. In Splatoon 3, it’s revealed that this shady business has actually been a scheme to gather materials to create what is essentially a world-ending weapon, which the player then needs to stop.)

Splatoon may be rated E10+ (and kids can definitely have fun with it), but the skill ceiling is incredibly high and it has a thriving competitive community. The movement options and weapons being so fundamentally different from other shooters is part of the appeal imo. As for context on things, the music of the Splatoon series is very much interwoven with its story. Almost every track in all 3 games is entirely diegetic and exists in-universe. For example, Anarchy Rainbow and Till Depth Do Us Part are both by the band Deep Cut, who run the Anarchy Splatcast and are kind of the face of Splatoon 3 (each of the three games have an idol band that run the in-game news). Tentacle to the Metal is by Damp Socks ft. Off the Hook (the latter of which was the idol band in Splatoon 2), Liquid Sunshine is by the Squid Sisters ft. Ian BGM (the former of which was the idol band in Splatoon 1), Frothy Waters is by ω-3 (whose music plays during Salmon Run, Splatoon's PvE mode), and Bear With Me is by Grizzco Industries. As an example of the bands' stories, Squid Squad, a band from Splatoon 1, broke up between Splatoon 1 and 2. Their bassist joined up with someone else in Splatoon 2 to form Diss-Pair, and the rest of Squid Squad reformed in Splatoon 3 with a new bassist as Front Roe.

"Frothy Waters" plays during special waves during the game's horde mode. It is absolutely supposed to make you feel anxious. "Bear with Me" is the theme that plays during the story mode's final boss. It is supposed to sound off and unsettling in the beginning and has motifs from songs in Splatoon 2's "Happy Little Workers," which does relate to the plot of the story. Context for bear with me: is the boss theme of Mr.Grizz the CEO of Grizzco a evil corporation that is blamed for the war between salmonids and the rest of the sea life, Mr.Grizz was a surviving bear of the apocalypse that whip out humanity since he arrived in a space arc made by humans to keep some animals alive but it miserably failed and once he returned to earth he encountered some crystals the surviving humans made with the evolved cephalopods which eventually mutated all the sea life into what’s now (the funky squid kids that absorbed the genetically memory of humanity the crystals also had) and it also mutated Grizz into a titanic bear that looks like a plushie Then he started the war with the salmonids using the religion of the inklings to collect their eggs and create a ooze that turns non-mammals like fish, crustaceans and cephalopods into mammals He tried spreading it using a rocket left by the few surviving humans (which died trying to use it) and zombified a entire army of Octarians (a octopus race) but got defeated by the squid beak (a government organization) and is now drifting in space regretting all of he’s choices

Frothy Waters is one of my favorite soundtrack pieces ever, because of the way it’s composed and how BATSHIT the sheet music is. For the intro, it gets one single note longer every single measure, so the counting is WILD, and the constant counting shift is incredible to listen closely to and read. It’s a master class of knowing the rules in order to break them for me.

Splatoon definitely has a very unique soundtrack! The series has a pretty interesting history: it was the first new major IP from Nintendo in over a decade, and was a huge success despite being released in the final years of one of Nintendo's worst-selling systems. Probably it was because Splatoon appeals to a wide demographic thanks to its very accessible but surprisingly deep gameplay, cute character designs, and detailed worldbuilding with a rather dark lore. It's pretty admirable that Splatoon has developed such an active community with only three games (well, three-and-a-half if you count Octo Expansion) and an obscure manga. If I could recommend another game OST, I'd love to see Cuphead. The best way I can describe it is frantic, jazzy, and a whole lot of brass!

Facts about Frothy Waters: 1. This one song is the only one in this playlist you've listened that is not supposed to loop. Theres like 20 seconds of the music of the first half, but it goes 10x faster every bar. The song overall lasts 100 seconds, which is the exact time during a round of a Salmon Run event 2. This was initially called Chaos Carnival by fans

Highly highly HIGHLY reccomend listening to Two Shadows in the Sun. It doesn’t matter if you do it on video or not, it’s just that it is so beautiful in the context of the game with it being in a long dead civilization of humans who left behind a city that was holding out hope to create a new life. It’s truly so powerful in some moments for an ambient track and I just hope you give it a listen.

The band that made Tentacle to the Metal, Damp Socks, was formed by the idol group from Splatoon 2, Off the Hook, and a few band members they scouted while on tour! So if you want to hear more of the vocals, songs by Off the Hook are where to go! For something more Jazz-like, Damp Socks has another song and there's also Ink Theory from Splatoon 2! All 3 games have amazing osts but I'm really liking 3's the most in nearly all the modes (singleplayer, multiplayer, salmon run)

honestly though if you ever come back to Splatoon 3 music, you have to come back to the song that is the game's literal life-pulse: the Calamari Inkantation, specifically, the 3MIX. i don't mind if you skip the versions from previous games but they're usually used as the true final phase of the main story's final boss as the series own "Proof of a Hero" if you've ever listened to Monster Hunter music before, or if you haven't, it's usually the game's "Hype Music", a song that designates the final boss isn't the one in control anymore. you, the player character, are, and you are going in for the KRILL! bonus context for the Calamari Inkantation 3MIX: throughout the game you are being supported by the Squid Sisters, Callie and Marie, and along the way a rival band appears to try to stop you from gathering plot important objects. and before then, you bump into DJ Octavio, who is the fakeout final boss/first boss of the game. the 3mix is all 3 of of those conflicting parties taking one look at Mr. Grizz and going "let's save the world together and do it in funky fresh style! BRING THE DIVINE MELODY!" also you get to Co-Pilot the mech that DJ Octavio fights you with WHILE YOUR LITTLE BUDDY SMALLFRY BECOMES EMPOWERED BY THE MUSIC AND BECOMES HUGEFRY

Splatoon’s soundtrack is so diverse with so many different genre’s and sounds, a lot because it’s all basically in-universe musicians behind it all. Each song builds more upon its world, with each one having a unique character/band behind it. I super recommend listening to more Splatoon music in general. Some bands/songs I recommend (warning: this will be long) Splattack by Squid Squad (or some of its remixes/covers) the series’ most iconic song I argue. C-Side is a very metal type band with some really good songs, they also made a cover of Splattack Now or Never i’d say is another of the series most iconic songs, with multiple covers and reiterations in-universe made of it. I think there’s like 6 versions of the same song, all by different in-universe artists. I’d recommend the original by Squid Squad, the cover by C-Side, and the splatfest versions by Squid Sisters and Deep Cut. I love this song because it has so many different versions with different vibes and personalities but it all serves the same purpose. Omega-3, who made Frothy Waters, are a band that consists of Salmon people who make some insane, chaotic, and purely bizzare music. I don’t know what genre to consider it. But more of their songs are worth a listen if you wanna listen to some wacky shit Ink Theory is a jazz band with its own dedicated kazoo player, I think that’s all I have to say. Hooked by Hightide Era is one of my personal favorites. I love its intense piano playing. Off The Hook has a lot of good and iconic songs, I’d recommend Nasty Majesty, Acid Hues, Ebb and Flow, Fly Octo Fly, Color Pulse, or Into the Light. Their music is very diverse and inspired by American musicians. Squid Sisters, who are behind Liquid Sunshine, is very inspired by J-Pop. I’d recommend probably City of Color and Ink me Up. Calamari Inkantation another super iconic song. in-universe, it’s an old folk song a special power behind it that inspires and alters DNA. Its most known version is by the Squid Sisters (They have 2 version, Spicy Calamari Inkantation and the original Calamari Inkantation. I recommend the original it’s just better imo). The most recent iteration is a collaboration between Squid Sisters and Deep Cut called Calamari Inkantation 3MIX, which I think is the best version the series has of the song. (Edit: adding just one more band lol Sashimori has a very unique sound, with some of their vocals being samples from human voices instead of Splatoon’s usual “fish language”) You already listened to a couple Deep Cut songs but they’re still worth a mention. Fins in The Air is a personal favorite. There are so many more songs and bands but I think I’ve already mentioned too many. Would love to see another reaction video but I think these are also just worth listening to on your own!

Splatoon has different fictional bands that make the multiplayer themes. So, I'd recommend Hightide Era and the Chirpy Chips from Splatoon 1 (Someone even made a "Buddy Holly" cover in the style of the Chirpy Chips). Splatoon 3's single player ost is also pretty amazing, so I think you can find them as the Alterna Mission themes. But, each one of those themes recently got named so they might be called something different now.

I'd love to see more reactions to Splatoon music, the games really have soundtracks unlike any other! It'd be cool to see your reactions to the different variations of "Splattack" (Original, C-Side, and Octo) which is the "main" Splatoon theme, and "Calamari Inkantation" (Original, Spicy, and 3MIX) which has been the "final boss, final phase" music for each game. "Fly Octo Fly ~ Ebb and Flow" is also the final boss theme for Splatoon 2's DLC and is my favorite song, definitely worth a listen as well.

The reason they are different is because the faster and higher energy ones are from turf war battles, which are where you have to cover the most of the floor in a map with ink. It has music in the background because music is important to the game because it’s so unique. The weird one is from salmon run, a game mode where you kill salmonids, basically salmons, to get golden eggs. The last song is the final boss of the game which is the bear who is in charge of the salmon run company. It’s in the story mode. The music in the different game modes are really different, and made by different characters in the game, and the different characters and game modes are completely different so that’s why

*Context:* 00:00 that is the theme of the main plaza during splatfest, not a sound you hear during the actually matches but rather when you prepare for them in the Plaza 03:28 , 05:58 & 08:28 are songs you actually hear during onlinebattles 10:40 this is a theme for Salmonrun, an online Co-op where you battle not Squids, but Salmons, and as a different species they also have a very different culture and that's why the vibe is so different in this. The mode consists of multiple Waves of enemies that you and your team need to withstand and is sometimes very stressful + the odd nature of salmons and you get a theme that is very weird and repetitive. 13:13 is a boss theme, that's why it is multiphased, and just like the salmons it is also a battle against a non-Squid enemie, so the theme doesn't feature the same kind of lyrics as the first themes did. Hope that clears up some confusion about the shift in style for these themes

You have to do more Splatoon songs to completely understand most of the game. Might have to do multiple videos though, there’s so many songs that so many musicians, composers and regular joes just don’t acknowledge. There’s the story mode songs for each game, I’d highly recommend Splatoon 1’s story mode songs, but the other two’s are notable as well. Then more multiplayer songs, but I can’t name a certain game for those. Then the Octo Expansion songs, those should probably be a priority. Lastly, the final boss music. You’ve already seen the Splatoon 3 final boss theme, but there’s technically two other final boss themes. One is the theme for the final boss of the previous games (which you should totally check out, his themes in the other two), who comes back as the first boss for this game. The other is the last part of the boss fight which is a classic song from the other games remixed for this game, Calamari Inkantation 3-MIX

Ok, so here's the (mostly) complete context of Bear With Me. So basically Splatoon takes places in the world where (almost) all of the mammals have gone extinct, and the marine life has evolved to be more advanced and walk on land and stuff. You play as Inklings and Octolings, squids and octopuses who have sort of absorbed thoughts and memories of humans for reasons I will not attempt to explain and are now the dominant species of Earth. Splatoon 3 has a story mode where you play as an agent for the Squidbeak Splatoon, and you end up falling into a place called Alterna. There you discover a bunch of ooze that can turn creatures into mammals. A bunch of story stuff happens until eventually you reach a rocket site where you find the source of the ooze. It's from the big bear guy named Mr.Grizz, one of the only surviving mammals who has also gained great intelligence for reasons I will again not attempt to explain. Mr.Grizz actually appeared in Splatoon 2, running a business(mode) called Grizzco(Salmon Run) where he hired Inklings and Octolings to obtain Golden Eggs from these fish dudes called the Salmonids. It turns out that he was using these Golden Eggs to power his rocket ship, and he's going to use it to fly into space where he'll cover the earth in his ooze, forcefully turning all the Inklings and Octolings and other creatures into mammals. This crime against biology and nature is less than ideal, so you get the help of pop idols to launch yourself into space onto his rocket where you have a big battle for the fate of the Earth. This whole thing is, as some would describe it, weird as **** and kind of messed up, which is reflected in the song. A tune from "Happy Little Workers", a theme from Salmon Run, is also a prominent part of the song. Oh and I almost forgot, you also have a lil' Salmonid buddy who can gulp up the ooze with no negative effects, which he does in the final battle. So that explain the gulping I guess. Yeah that's basically it, if you bothered to read all this.

there are different ingame bands who 'make' these songs and they all have different personalities and styles, Squid Sisters (s1 idols) for example, as you commented on Liquid Sunshine (it also features Big Man from Deep Cut, who is a manta ray), are 'cutesy and cheery' and have a japanese old folk style iirc (other songs are City of Color, Ink Me Up, Calamari Inkantation etc), Deep Cut (s3 idols) songs for another exapmle have a mix of anarchy and Japanese, Indonesian(?), Brazillian styles which Deep Cut members represent (Shiver, Frye, Big Man respectively) (songs: Anarchy Rainbow, Till Depth Do Us Part, Fins in the Air etc)

Something I didn't see mentioned yet (granted I haven't looked at all 500+ comments): every Splatoon game has its own idol group. The idols host the news for the game, perform in-game concerts during splatfests, and have actual Live Band concerts in Japan with extended versions of their unique songs. Game 1, the Squid Sisters, is a pair of cousins who are very clear Pop Artists; they've hosted the single-player campaign for games 1, 2, and 3, and they are the two main singers in Liquid Sunshine. Game 2, Off The Hook, is a pair of VERY close best friends who like trying new things and are involved in Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion storyline; they ended Game 2 vowing to branch into new genres, and are the singers in Tentacle To The Metal (which is inkredibly different from all the music they did in Splatoon 2). Game 3 features Deep Cut, a trio of three different species who are supposed to each bring their unique cultural influences to their music, resulting in their definitely unique sound. I absolutely recommend looking up one or more of the live concerts, because Anarchy Rainbow (for example) was the first song featured in the latest concert, released late 2022, and rather than being two verses on repeat features at least one, maybe two extra verses. And excellent choreography.

About the game itself, Splatoon is a colorful shooter where you shoot colorful ink/paint at the floor, walls and oponents. Besides its presentation, do not let the game fool you, it's just about a kids game as something like Minecraft, it's for everyone while being very mechanicaly deep and complex with a very high skill ceiling. About the music in its in game context: "anarchy rainbow" and "till depth do us part" are songs that play during splatfests, festive events that happen every so often in game, the former plays in the hub area (where you log on) during the later half of a fest, the other plays during matches. They are both made by the game's idol trio Deep Cut. They also make a second battle music named "fins in the air". "Tentacle to the metal" is a battle music that plays outside of fests, it's made by the ficitional group Damp socks, featuring "Off the Hook", Splatoon 2's idol duo (each game has its own idol group). There is another battle track by the same group called "Candy coated rocks" if you want more of that style. "Liquid Sunshine" is a splatfest battle music by The Squid Sisters (Splatoon 1's idol duo) featuiring Ian BGM (an alias for Big Man of Deep Cut) "Frothy Waters" plays during special waves of Salmon Run, a Horde survival game mode where you need to collect eggs from salmon enemies. The group behind the track, ω-3 (Omega-3) is a trio of salmonids, they are behind all the music in the salmon run mode, with other tracks such as "Deluge dirge" during normal waves, "fishing frenzy" during other (usually stress-inducing) special wave, and "Toxic Anoxic" which plays during a raid boss style extra special wave. About "Bear with me" all I can really say is it's related to the in-game shady company called GrizzCo. To get more info, you should probably just checkout the game and see where this song pops up. Another song I'd recommend you listen to is "Calamari Inkantation" or the more refined versions "Spicy Calamari Inkantation" or "Calamari Inkantation 3-mix". It is an iconic song in the series.

That context on the various songs you listened to that you asked for - i.e. when they play during the game: Anarchy Rainbow - BGM for the game's hub during the Splatfest events, which is themed as a nighttime concert as part of a street festival. Till Depth Do Us Part - One of the songs that plays during PvP matches in those Splatfest events. Tentacle to the Metal - One of the songs that plays during PvP matches outside of Splatfest events. Liquid Sunshine - One of the songs that plays during PvP matches in Splatfest events. Frothy Waters - The song that plays during the _easier_ special waves during the game's hoard mode. Bear With Me - Final boss theme for the story mode.
