Reupload because the original was taken down by a certain "little yellow gremlin" because I showed one of his video thumbnails for 5 seconds (a thumbnail that uses stolen art, as a cherry on top). The image has been redacted, and the video has some new little 2023 updates sprinkled in. You might wonder why I'm having it as a re-premiere rather than just a plain reupload, well I have a lot of new subscribers that may not have seen the original.

My theory for the octoling accent is that, if you you listen very carefully, you can hear their voice warbles more than inklings. This is true for Marina and playable octolings, but not as noticable than Shiver because she's from an entirely different continent!

I think one of the reasons splatoon songs don’t have lyrics in a ‘real’ language is that you start to create your own meaning for the lyrics. This makes the song feel more personal and makes it more meaningful. Because of the way the songs’ lyrics begin to become your own, I don’t think that it could ever just be nonsense.

The story of the reupload is so crazy. Someone who has beef with me took it down fraudulently by abusing the copyright system. When I contacted KZbin for support, they agreed it was fraudulent but the take down was automatic. Get this, I was told the reason it was automatic is because if a creator makes a lot of strikes and claims against other videos that don't get appealed, KZbin will assume it's not fraudulent and take immediate action instead of warning the person struck. And it did that because this dude had taken down SO MANY videos of people criticizing him! I have actual receipts from DMs with this guy where he admitted he took this video down just to fuck with me. I do not want to say who this person is, don't go looking, it's ancient drama and they're not worth the time to deal with. But isn't that insane? I am so happy the video is back up and I was able to make some edits and fix some details, but it absolutely destroyed its views in comparison to the first upload.

I found it on the Splatoon wiki. I know in the beginning I say I don't take them at face value, and it's true that they can make mistakes, but after making this video I met some people from the wiki team and learned about how stringent they try to be with the accuracy of their info. In fact when this was originally uploaded it only took one day of it being up for the Calamari Shanty page to be updated!

Please be patient 🙏 I typically don't give myself specific deadlines, especially huge projects, because I am disabled (fibromyalgia, dissociative seizure disorder, etc) so even if I plan everything out perfectly, a sudden seizure or cataplectic fatigue spell can interrupt the entire process and work flow, and make it harder to make my deadlines. This project itself I worked on for an entire month straight, not a single day off for 31 days, because I was trying to get it out before the release of Splatoon 3. I can't put myself under that kind of stress again, especially when my seizure disorder is caused by stress. So please, be patient with me, I'm doing my best to make content for you all to enjoy, but I need to take my time for my own health.

The text that pops up saying "2023 Update: ___" I reposted this video the day after it was taken down. I worked for two months straight on this project back in 2022, the second month having literally no days off (it honestly wasn't healthy and I won't ever do that to myself again) so I wasn't going to go through the trouble of writing, recording, and editing completely new sections just because a petty gremlin wanted to take down my entire video because I showed one of his video thumbnails for about 6 seconds (that's what the "REDACTED" bit is in the Deep Cut section). I figured adding some text updates would be fine enough for the purpose of the reupload.

The original was taken down by another KZbinr. I showed a screenshot of their thumbnail in my video for literally five seconds, which is apparently a valid reason to KZbin to remove a video. This person has had a hate obsession with me for months, so decided today to come to my livestream on an alt account called "check_your_youtube_email" and taunt me by saying "bye bye video"
