9 years later, splatoon 3's grandfest ended last week. i watched this video back when it was uploaded in 2015 and remember thinking it was the most hype thing i'd ever seen, so it led to me getting splatoon 1 and sinking so many hours into it. so, thank you for uploading this!

To think that this little franchise of silly cephalopods all started here! To think that it could have remained a niche title stuck on a dying console.. and yet, it lived, and it made a community. It grew with us, and we grew with it! This game will honestly forever stick with me, long nights spent playing splatfests, silly yet beautiful squid songs, the horrors of salmon run, wonderful stories of this world’s characters, broken specials, funny weapons, the wonderful and horrible maps, the hype of new reveals, and of course the rollercoaster of emotions from each and every final fest. Actually, you cats were pretty terrible. Only some were awesome like you so we just sat and did a squid party while others fail at killing each other. But some were good and serious but their team held them back. Boy did i wish i faced you along with your team those two nights! Yes, i stayed up two nights with my wii u on its charger just splatting away to dog victory. About every round i get about 20-35 kills. Even when i lose a round i still end up and he mvp in my team, i was always on the enemy base like you. Hopefully we meet and we battle (or be allies) and show the whole round what we can do!

As a Splatoon 2 only player, I thought: Vertical swings weren't a thing? Only one song played during splatfest? Where was the Salmon Run announcement? The map seems smaller. That last minute song is more anxiety inducing The plaza is HUGE The dance is better Was the Aerospray RG good back then? Was the kraken form terrifying? Callie sounds like Pearl announcing splatfest. The font is so... blockish. How many specials are there? The winning animations are awesome, better than 2. The losing song is so painful, and the inklings are just as dramatic as Octolings. The maps seem small, but long. Splatfest seems so magical and special. Match Start opening is great! Why did I never get a Wii U?

Splatfests are limited events that you’ll never see the same way again, and that makes them very special, just like irl festivals and concerts. Even though (obviously) I haven’t been in a splatoon 1 splatfest for many years now, I have such fond memories of the music and atmosphere. I’d say I wish there was a mode to make the game have the splatfest setting with the nighttime party light ambience and all, but that would absolutely ruin what makes them so unique and irreplaceable, and why I make a point to at least play a few games in each splatfest many years later in Splatoon 2/3.

fr same, I remember in christmas 2015 begging my parents for a wii u with splatoon in it, eventually I got yes a wii u but there was mario kart 8. I really loved that game, but I wish I had been able to play splatoon back then, and the fact is that after almost 7 years I still don't have it.
