You should skip 2, because you can see the ores above and below, which means you know what's going on with in a 3 tiles range. So skipping 2 means you will still be able to see all of the ores while wasting less time

The mining strategy that worked best for was to dig every third row. The reason for this is that you can see the minerals in the row above you and the row below you. If you just keep one row in between your mining, you are essentially wasting time.

It should mostly be the same. In the options, you can switch between two modes for the tech tree, compact and detailled. The Probe is a special gadget to carry around, that's right. In addition, there is another gadget named prospection meter, showing up on your HUD.

To be honest, i've played neither, not even Motherload before making dome. We made it for the Ludum Dare game jam with the theme "deeper and deeper", so mining was super obvious. And the mining needed a purpose, a use for the resources, which again felt like an obvious thing to do. But ofc i checked these games afterwards, to steal all the good ideas :D
@Islacrusez2 жыл бұрын
@@bippinbits hah! And as Tom Lehrer put it in Lobachevsky... “only be sure to always call it, please, ‘research’!” Feels like you’re onto a pretty good concept here, with a great central tension and driving force to the game. The main thing that might be missing from it that motherlode has was the variety of ores, which helped keep the mining/exploration fresh and extend the longevity (though the game had no payoff - the final boss was... well it was what it was). Whether you lift notes from there or come up with something of your own, you might need something to fill that role; though saying that you do have the artefact system which probably does a lot of work in that department. 👍 Honestly I’m kinda jealous, as it seems like a pretty obvious concept to put together once you’ve seen someone else do it. When I saw it I almost slapped my forehead and said “why didn’t I think of that?”. Wishing you all the best with the game and I promise to only steal the best ideas from yours, not all of them 😇
