I wasn’t a fan of all the changes they made to the characters in the remake. They turned Rick into a beta geek, his mask form was basically a John Cena-like bro dude, and the masks dialogue attempting to be edgy and humorous didn’t fit in with the serious spirit of the old games. They tried too hard to modernize the game instead of trying to capture the familiarity and spirit of the first three.

Basically an evil possessed mask teams up with a guy (Eric, the protagonist) trying to protect his girlfriend (Jennifer) from otherworldly forces. Eric fails, the girl dies, and he revenges her Doom Eternal style before the mask breaks and the house is destroyed. Now in this game, the sequel, the mask reappears to help Eric save Jennifer, causing him to go John Wick inside the reappeared house to basically force the denizens of Hell to return back the life they stole. TL;DR Berserk at Home.
