The saddest thing about this song is that wowaka was soo afraid that people don't saw him but only Miku. But in the end on concerts people are screaming his name

And the unhappy refrain was not just the exit of vocaloid and he making a band... there was still the reference of people don't understand it was a real person and if they understand they want "make more songs of miku" and he is just was enough...

His legacy is especially fascinating to me: Vocaloid is such a broad pseudo-genre of music, which means you can find songs ranging from jazz to dubstep to heavy metal. The only thing uniting it all together is the fact that the vocalists are usually synthetic (this extends to Utauloids and SynthV voicebanks, as well). It's so diverse. Wowaka? He is, without any exaggeration, universally loved by the *entire* Vocaloid community. Everyone knows and recognizes his name, everyone knows at least one song by him, everyone knows the impact he had in the early days, and a large amount of modern producers will cite him as a source of inspiration. It doesn't matter what genre you listen to or if you even particularly liked any of his songs--everyone knows and highly respects Wowaka and his work. As unsatisfied as he was with the community in his final years, I hope he can find some pride with that wherever he his now. (Side-note, Wowaka went on to join the band Hitorie and they are without a doubt one of my top three bands, please listen to them and especially the song "Monocolor")

Also let’s go! Another Hitorie listener :D. Monocolor is such a good song TwT

Not many people talk about this, but here’s the meaning of the song. The song is a bit like Unhappy Refrain: It’s about the recognition and credit that Wowaka didn’t receive. Some don’t know this, but after the song Unhappy Refrain came out, Wowaka took a long break from making Vocaloid songs, some argue that this was because of his band Hitorie, but you can tell by Wowaka’s last song before the hiatus that he wasn’t satisfied in the Vocaloid community. Unhappy Refrain was about the credit Wowaka didn’t get, because people credited Miku, not Wowaka. Unknown Mother Goose is about the same thing, a song about why he left. You can see in the lyrics that it’s about Wowaka not getting credit “Can you see me?” Can you see Wowaka and not just Miku? “A forgotten story” Wowaka was forgotten The line “Pick me up again” was a mistake on Wowaka’s part. He admitted that the lyric is supposed to be “Give me love again”, people misunderstood it. “Give me love again” Give him credit, attention, love again It’s sad how Wowaka’s last Vocaloid songs were about an unsatisfaction with Vocaloid music, but I’m sure he’s happy to know that he’s getting the recognition, love and attention even though he’s gone.

I look at this song a little different. I'm not really know Japanese but this song has 'two' pronoun. 'Atashi' and 'Boku', I believe wowaka wrote two POV in the song. Atashi is Miku POV and Boku is wowaka POV. Despite on everything, I think unknow mother goose pretty positive song than unhappy refrain. After unhappy refrain, finally people can see him, not miku. So he try again, try to entrusted those feelings to 'this voice' again. So in my opinion, this song represent what wowaka encountered with miku 'voice' but in positive way. It sad that this is his last song though...

This is a classic example, and it is very unfortunate, that an Artist finally receives their credit after they are dead. Wowaka was only beginning to get his recognition just before he died. His death brought light to songs of his, most notably this one, Unknown Mother Goose. Its that spotlight that only shines on you when it's too late. Since his death, most of Miku's fans have changed significantly, I am one of them. Miku the character became so famous, which is where the line "Honestly Can you see me through the screen" came from. Do you see miku, or can you see even deeper and see wowaka. I think all of the producers, writers, and modeling artists deserve good credit, but Wowaka was a very big loss, he wrote some of the most powerful songs in the Miku team, and her AI sang them so well, such an amazing pair. Unfortunately, and this is my opinion, I don't think anyone else on the team can write a song as powerful or as meaningful as Wowaka did. A friend of mine once said, Wowaka was like the Gordon Lightfoot of Miku song writers. He wrote his songs with deeper meaning and questions than just writing the song on the topic. His songs went into such depth, like Gordon's famous "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". Rachie, and everyone else who did this one, phenomenal job on this English cover, fantastic lyrics and very good translation and alteration to make the English lyrics fit. You ALL did a great job. Thank you.

Jesus. The video's an incredible tribute in its entirety - the visuals, and the LYRICS. Rachie's lyrics for vocaloid songs are my favourite of them all, and I feel like for the first time I can articulate way. I can read direct translations of Japanese lyrics, but they often turn out a little jumbled, a little harder to grasp the meaning of, than if I was fluent in Japanese and read them that way. But the way rachie adapts these lyrics just... makes it all crystal clear again. It's genius. I want to cry, and I'm not sure if it's out of happiness at hearing this song, which means a lot to me, like this, or if it's because I'm feeling sad that wowaka's gone again. Probably both. Thank you so much. "Tell me what would you wish"? I wish we had more years with wowaka. I loved what little I heard of his work with Hitorie too.

If someone ever needs the lyrics but cant sing it on time with the video because of the timing, here you go! What if I tried showing you a love that could be? In your eyes, what's the love that you see? I'm stringing words, full of lyrical melodies As the music ripples right out of me Until I try painting you with love that could be All these colors are just a fantasy When I'm alone, swallowed by the sounds in the air It's a sensation nothing else on this earth can compare (instrumental) Inside a life, drowning in monotonous noise That was the life of every girl and every boy They sound the same, every song recycled again Oh, plug my ears and let it end! What if you tried showing me a love that could be? In your dialogue, would you answer me? But if you shut me out, pretending it was enough Then hopefully this song will cause you to wake up! A forgotten story, of stardom and glory, is now all that haunts me Before doors, it's got me right down to the core, I can't take it anymore, see? If ever a freudian slip of the tongue is permitted in lyrical melodies If ever I cannot enjoy spitting verses I like without swallowing back tears If meaning the void in my heart's gonna tear me apart when it finally breaks free Then let me scream out! If this world casts me aside to die before I'm through I just wanna know if I could sing this song of love to you One more time, I'm gonna try and find the voice to bring All the feelings that nobody really cares enough to sing Honestly, tell me can you see me through the screen? Honestly, tell me can you see me through the screen? All anyone has done is shoot me with a gun, while claiming that it's all in good fun Even so, I keep wishing I could love it so Even so, I keep wishing I could love it so Ah, that would mean the world to me If you could give me meaning- (vocalizing) If you told me a love that could be Somehow Tell me now, who's the love that you see? Tearing apart the box in which you're guarding with your heart C'mon and let me see the you in your fantasies What if I could become the love that I wanted to be? Some how Tell me now, what are the colors you see? The grey and white symbols you on the screen Won't get across the loneliness that I feel! Imposters and copycats Swarming this site like rats Finally are slinking back (Lie la lie lie) Half-heartedly making things Forcing a program to sing Not throwing the towel in! (Bye ba bye bye) Even so you stayed behind Fighting back the urge to cry Even after all this time (Why why) I know the answer now All of you out there stood your ground So all the girls and boys in the town Shout loud and stand proud! The pain and shame, and somehow sorrow and rage, the delight and the heartache Feelings I can't escape, tomorrow today, no we won't ever part ways But if there's not anything else on the planet that can keep me from smiling through all my tears Just what would it do to the feelings inside me that's carried me through all of these years? Would that be the end? Would I give it all up just because of some dumb stupid fear? No way I'd like that! Tell me how, how can I love the world I've left behind? Will I have to keep on rolling on until the end of time? No, I think, I might as well write you a simple song All the feelings that people have long ignored will now live on As for you, tell me what would you want differently? As for you, tell me what would you wish differently? Though only barely breathing, my heart is still living In the moment like it's just the beginning Honestly, tell me can you see me through the screen? Honestly, tell me can you see me through the screen? Shining so bright before my eyes, will it light up the future? (vocalizing) Hey, if you're gonna scream of your love I'll be here to listen no matter what You're stringing words, full of lyrical melodies Though it's a lot, we still continue to dream What if I tried showing you a love that could be? All of these lyrics would flash by on the screen Oh, that forgotten story known by everybody I've been humming it out for the world to hear it seems

God I love this song so much. I’ve been listening to Will Stetson’s ever since that came out, and I’m glad that you both did such amazing jobs. (Alongside any other covers I have yet to listen to.) Having all these different versions of songs is what draws me to this community, everyone puts a bit of themselves in their covers, Utaite or Virtual Singer, it gives new life to songs no matter the age. wowaka is truly living on through everyone’s memory of him, and I’m glad to experience his songs again and again.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY EPIC. Unknown Mother Goose is my favorite Vocaloid song, and this is the BEST ENGLISH COVER I'VE EVER HEARD: the voice, the English translation, everything is just PERFECT!!!!!!

In the part "Can you see me through the screen" I feel like wowaka is saying that can you at least see me instead of hatsune miku? Can you truly see me at least once through the screen and know that he was the one who made the songs and recognize him for his work

I simply must say, this song has so many segments that must have been mad fun but also stupid hard to sing. Your cover, ofc, is clean. Love it. And as you requested, #subsquad, for such is how I ended here and enjoying this wonderous cover.

I am not kidding when i say i cried to this. I honestly did, the voice was powerful and so beautiful. This is one of my favorite songs Wowaka composed, it a shame really he didn't receive the recognition he truly deserves. He deserves all the love, and this song nailed it with it being powerful. Thank you wowaka, you will never be forgotten

I just looked up what Wowaka had died from and his history because I've seen everywhere in the vocaloid community send thanks to him even after his death in 2019, and I genuinely feel pleased That his legacy still lives on, and I would like to send condolences to those who cherished him. 1987-2019

It looking like a Wowaka music video as well is such a nice touch. I'm usually not a big fan of vocaloid translation covers but this is genuinely one of the best covers of anything, vocaloid or not, that I've heard. I'm sure he would have loved this. Sorry for this word salad haha

Been a fan of Wowaka since I first discovered Vocaloid in 2011. Found out the last song he made was Unhappy Refrain and learned about how Miku always overshadowed the Voca-Ps. I was so happy when I learned that he cameback with a new band named Hitorie back in 2016. In 2017 he finally made a new Vocaloid song, Unknown Mother Goose. The very next year, unfortunately, he left us forever... But until this day, I still listen to his songs and his current band's songs. This cover literally makes me bawling. Understanding the lyrics, it feels like Wowaka finally has his own happy ending about his songs and Miku herself 🤍💙

Wow, just wow. I think this is one of the best covers I've ever seen. This translation of the song made me really realize just what wowaka meant in the lyrics. And where do I even start on the video, the details, the editing, the animation, I'm shooketh! That's the only way I know how to describe it!
@jnaful3 жыл бұрын
My god, this cover is absolutely fantastic. The time you took to match the original lyrics to your slight edit to better fit English rhyming and not lose any of the original meaning in said lyrics is just mind blowing. I’ve been meaning to re-edit old songs to English for some time now. And making English rhymes still fit the original meaning is one of my main focuses so your work gives me hope. Thank you for this amazing work!

Summary of the comment section as of this very comment: This music marked the departure of Wowaka, scroll down to find the reasons. Reol did something somewhat the same thing, and this song represents that Rachie IS nice after all, to cover a song to pay respect, I like that. This music is like Rachie's bonfire. *This music is fire!* Meanwhile me just typing random crap that goes unnoticed, which is what I wanted.
