what about the foot? shouldn't that ankle be secured in a flexed position with the toe up toward the shin?

would you put the foot in a position of function? I failed my test because of not putting the foot in function. Also the injury wasnt really the knee it was below it. would i still use it like this? My choices were a sam splint and two long splints like your using.

smj1245 pretty late response but if the injury is below the knee and the patient is able to straighten out the leg without further injury, then you would splint with the long bone splinting technique

Since it's the knee, which is a joint, you wouldn't need to put in the position of function. Below the knee is the tibia which is a bone so therefore you would do the position of function for that
