@Teina Nanai You'll be happy to know that I loved these guys here in the American state of Nebraska. If you picture Alice Springs on that bigger island next to you, you'll know what the folks in L.A. and New York think of us here in Nebraska; a flyover state in the middle of nowhere. But, never-the-less, we had cable TV and MTV back in the early 80s and these guys were getting heavy rotation on MTV. And, I loved it. What a great band. Here's a remixed extended version of this song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWm0ioZvlNN7Y5o

Great song, and certainly a video of this hit I've never seen before. I can only assume back when videos were in their infancy, certain self proclaimed experts thought this montage would be the big ticket to their success. Instead the stop action video was great, and fit this song perfectly.

@MultiEviscerator3 ай бұрын
@@cootmaster I agree, and because of your comment I decided to watch this again. Something I noticed this time was the clapping at the very end, which leads me to think it was on some TV show they were performing on, rather than the official video release. The song is good regardless, but the video with the frame was much better. Still I appreciate this rare video, as they are always interesting.

As A British teenager of 15 in 1980 I was fully aware that my countrymen had had the music world by the balls for decades..Beatles,Stones.The Who,Elton,Rod,Fleetwood Mac, Bee Gees,Sabbath,Zeppellin,ELO, Bowie,Bolan,sweet, Roxy and SO MANY others in SO MANY genres of music from Rock'n'roll through pshycadelia(stoned spelling!)to Heavy Metal,glam, Punk/new wave and whatever.Only a fool could deny it and given the smallness of UK and it's population, certainly in comparison to the mighty USA, we Brits have certainly made our mark.HOW WONDERFUL it was for my teenage self in 1980 to come across what I consider to be the "Holy Trinity" of "New Wave" or @ least the "popier" side of what New Wave had become by 1980.The three singles that make up that trinity were by groups who would NEVER make the UK top 40 again, whether subsequent singles deserved to or not.They are three hit singles that I have NEVER tired of playing and doubt now @ a rather mature 55(!) that I ever will.They are (drumroll please)......3) 7TEEN -THE REGENTS (UK)...2) ECHO BEACH-MARTHA &THE MUFFINS (CANADA) and, "My lords, ladies & gentlemen" the MIGHTY NUMBER 1....I GOT YOU- SPLIT ENZ (NZ).Three gold nuggets that make "the Mother country" justifiably PROUD.(Cue "stiff upper lips" and saluting of regal Queen Victoria portrait!!). Neil Finn is quite rightly held in high esteem by both British and international musicians and, as others have said, he has done NZ proud.

Their stage antics could easily distract you from their music, but not me. Yes their antics made me smile, but their music was so well composed it raised em up above most 'pop' bands. First saw them in the UK in Preston 1978. Admired them ever since. Chuffed that 'Crowded House' went mainstream and made money, but miss the old Enz line up. But I'm an old guy now (64) so I'm bound to reminisce.
