Wow, great performance from Neil and the boys. Mad props to Eddie Rayner on keyboards, the real heart of the band.
@Baribrotzer2 жыл бұрын
Indeed. Back when the Enz were a (borderline) prog band, Eddie was the guy who put that material over. And he is/was apparently self-taught. It's also a bit funny to hear all those cheesy Vox/Farfisa organ sounds coming out of high-dollar (at the time) synths.

I lived through that era & did love all of these great bands. The Finn Brothers are still brilliant & relevant. I'm amazed how prolific they are...& how they're still giving us insanely wonderful music. Growing up in Manhattan, radio was a bit more open to this wave,( & the Brits). These bands toured decent sized clubs here, & also in larger cities. There aren't enough superlatives for The Finns artistry I wish I could "rewind", (& be @ 4 years older so I cld hv enjoyed more of it). IFI could "go back", it would be with the knowledge of how priceless this era in pop culture was. I would know to savor much more of every happy moment that was privy too. I'd take nothing for granted & ( thru experience), know just how fast it goes ! So fast, it is scary At l re ast you hv YT etc.

I love this song -- one of my favorites of the 80's! This is truly a live performance. Keyboard player nailed every sound and every note! FANTASTIC -- especially the oscillator sync sweep and organ sounds coming out of the Prophet-5. This is one of those songs that you listen to and wonder if would really sound that good live. These guys, especially the keyboard player, really made it sound like the studio (not to take away from the rest of the band).

And both of those terms wound up being clouded and overused. In 1980, the term “New Wave” had a very identifiable definition. By ‘84 or so it just meant any band that used synths and wore skinny ties. Same thing with “Alternative”, which initially meant exactly what the word means, but later on just meant any band with a wannabe Eddie Vedder singer. Now it’s happened to “Indie”.
