There is something to be said about hold weight. I know a light poundage recurve vs., a higher poundage recurve... the higher, has a advantage. For a cleaner release. Are the Onieda bows.... adjustable for hold weight? Prob. a precentage rating. So how much do you hold... all the way back? Ah... you mentioned Bear. I just ordered a Bear 50th Anniversary takedown. Of course it's out of stock... maybe 10 weeks, Can't wait to get it. It's gonna be like a 59 pan head Harley.... NOW I start saving for a Oneida. Good Video

You can make an Oneida feel like a recurve with a simple module change. Mine has a nice let off I’m guessing 70 - 75% ,, maybe Who knows it feels good 😆

great video man! found your video looking for Oneida bow information. I have a few old recurves and a newer compound. I have been shooting fingers most my life but had to run release on the newer bow I have. Its accurate... but I hate shooting release and miss finger shooting, esp for small game. Are the Oneida bows worth the price for finger shooters? They seem a little loud. One thing I hate is having to buy a new bow every 5 years because the manufacturer drops the model and you can't find parts.

I shoot 3 under on my recurves an I have had to replace the string on my Oneida old string had a d loop. How much above center should I put the brass nock set to shoot 3 under on my Oneida?
@TRIBEDRAKE
@TRIBEDRAKE 2 жыл бұрын
I’d put the bottom of your nock point at 1/2” and shoot a bare shaft, see how it reacts, that setting will put bottom side of your arrow 3/8 above center. It should be pretty close

I’m having problems with feathers getting tore up with the center rest flipper. Just one feather that on the bottom right. Is this normal? Or just there something I can do?
@TRIBEDRAKE
@TRIBEDRAKE 3 жыл бұрын
I kinda have to the same problem but I have tried vanes and the inconsistent flight is enough to keep me with what’s natural and that’s feathers, my nock height is 1/2” above center, feathers get frayed a little bit don’t worry about it, they will stabilize ur arrow for many shots

@TRIBEDRAKE
@TRIBEDRAKE 2 жыл бұрын
My budddy shoots a Phoenix long with F mods three under Bottom of the brass nock point is at 1/2” , his bow shoots good there at that nock height. You may have to lower your nocking point, you should find the perfect nock height by trial and error

Hey bro, I've been shooting different arrows with mixed results yet not quite what I'm looking for. I'm shooting the Oneida phoenix long set at 50 lb right now. I've tried Easton aluminum camo hunter 2315, then a beaman 400 carbon and a beaman 500. The 400 shoots the best of these, but seems to lite. 7.? Gpi. I shoot split finger trad no scope. Can ya push me towards an arrow you have found that's a great fit? Thanx. Keep on shooting and turn that guitar up and grind!! Be waiting to hear something and thanx for your videos. I really enjoy them.

How are these contraptions holding together after shooting alot what breaks on them and how many grains are your arrows for deer hunting with this Phoenix
@TRIBEDRAKE
@TRIBEDRAKE 3 жыл бұрын
They are simple bows, just watch your cables and string loops like any other bow, you can replace cables and string in the field if you had the parts in your pack,, no press needed. I use to shoot Mathews bare bow and went to Oneida , way better, more stable and way more accurate, I shoot goldtip 340 with 125 grain point. Bout 426-430 grains I believe. I pass thru deer easily. I shoot the piss out of my 2 Phoenix bows. Never a problem. Change your cables and string once a year or as often as you want..

Hay drake If your sombody who may need a tad bit longer draw than 31 inches can this be shot with the draw stops removed.. Sorry I know nothing about them Ed and Cy in our club had these back in the late 80s but I never paid much attention.. These that your shooting are late made 17 to 21 are those years 17 to 21 the same model.. I prolly need 31 or 32 inch draw... Thanks
@TRIBEDRAKE
@TRIBEDRAKE 3 жыл бұрын
Funny you ask, my 2 phoenix’s, I removed the draw stops cause I max the short draw out, If you got a Phoenix long it would fit you perfect, you could take off the stops , use g mods with tails broken off to give you some good letoff

When we where kids shooting traditional bows I remember hitting squirells in the eyeballs at 30 yds. We shot so much I don't remember aiming I think young brain matter before they washed away most of the third eye.. The third eye would make the arrow go where I wanted I realy don't remember aiming it was like your mind guided the arrow.. I want to get one of these things.. But I highly doubt I could ever get that good ever again.. I think I was like 11 years old and thinking this is how the native Americans did it.. It sounds crazy but that's my story

The NAP Flipper rest.... You can find Plastic/Rubber kind of... bolt covers. At most any large Lowe's or Home Depot. Maybe called thread covers. With 1 of those slipped over the NAP bolt that sticks out on the far side. Dresses up the rig. Just a idea for ya... I have them on all my NAP Flippers. Just a suggestion, you may not care about... or, you may. I donno. Have a great day.

Are you under a new KZbin name? I was thinking of making my own flemish twist string. I don't have the setup for the endless loop. What you think about it? Also, can you do a video on your anchor point? It looks like your almost looking down the shaft. I'm longtime longbow, recurve shooter, former compound, but now in 2nd year with my Oneida Phoenix that I really like.
@TRIBEDRAKE
@TRIBEDRAKE 3 жыл бұрын
Used to be yay earth hunt and health Endless loop is easy to make , Flemish is good too I just like having the served loop ends. I shoot split finger, it’s harder to look down the arrow doing that but I do get the arrow under my eye , not off to the side , 3 under would be easier to gun barrel the arrow. I hook cheeck with my index finger and cock feather is on the tip of my nose

I used to use Gold Tip nocks until I dryfired my Oneida Black Eagle! Oneidas have a pretty good string angle when drawn...Gold Tip changed their nocks back in the day to a shorter throat nock that’s not the best for fingers. After that mishap I switched over to Easton Super nocks and never looked back! I have never had an issue with them and that has to be around 15 years ago. Longer throat means less chance of slipping off on the draw! Stay safe!

Will the Phoenix have a bad string angle for fingers at a 30” or 31” draw? What about peep alignment? I have always liked a long axle to axle bows.
